ok so do any of you guys know sites where people can find land with buildings on it (doesnt matter if they need restoration). In america there are LOADS of sites, such as fsbo.com. anmy guys know some here? The idea is to find potential lands for a communal project that is currently underway for here in the uk. Oh yea.... and they should be cheap. Thanks for helping Peace and Love
You can get woodland reletively cheap but you'd be restricted to treehouses and wood huts etc... http://www.woodlands.co.uk/north.htm could be very lovely though Your best bet would be to move up here and check out the auctions. Most land is expensive these days though because developers are getting wise to the money they can make in turning land into apartments. There are many communes up here already though, try Cornerstones, diggers and dreamers etc Good luck Clairexxx
could you put a yurt on them woodlands? it says camping ok,,does that mean tent only,, or is any temporary structure acceptable?
You usually dont need planning permission for wooden structures, but I don't know the ins and outs... A friend of a friend bought woodland in Otley and was allowed a wooden structure, so I'm basing my theories off the back of that. A yurt is kinda in the category of a tent as far as the authorities would be concerned I'd guess.
sweet,, ive seen yurts tweeked ,,wood stoves futons gravity water sink etc.. does anyone know the euro american dollar conversion at the moment?
when you say "wood structure",, are you talkin like a lean to? or a log cabin? or somethin made of store bought wood?
Actually putting a yurt on the land was the EXACT idea i had. For anyone else with that idea, you can get a good 18 foot yurt, made in the "traditional mongolian ger" style in England, for £3,900. A bit steep, but made by a REAL professional, not some person that read an article about yurts, gers or benders on the net and decided to go into business. He has a more basic style 18 footer for £3,500. He also does 16 foot £2,950 (£2,500 in more basic design), aswell as kyrgyztani and kazakstani yurts for about £2,500, though all smaller in size. About the pound versus the dollar. The pound is trading at this moment at just over $1.72 (£1=$1.72 or $1=58p, courtesy of www.xe.xom/ucc so dont blame me if its not right ). So yea, keep the cool info on land up in north england or in the midlands coming. And also do any of you guy have sites of interest to Yurt dwelling in the modern age? i know where to buy yurts, but now i wanna know how i can live comfortabley in one (in an ecologically sound way). www.fourdog.com is THE place for stoves i know, but does anywhere in england sell them (id say transportation would cost alot)? And oh yea, is there anyway to get a little electricity into the place (just for lighting and maybe a small freezer to freeze food)..... iv been looking into generators, anyone have any ideas? Peace and Love you guys
