What a genius. I just bought a book of his transcribed solos. Started playing and analysing bits of it. Bloody amazing.

Music is your own experience, your own thoughts, your wisdom. If you don't live it, it won't come out of your horn. They teach you there's a boundary line to music. But, man, there's no boundary line to art.

yea, he was the dude. Him and Diz basically took what Pops had done and expanded that into a whole new way of playin that to this day functions as the basic harmonic and phrasing vocabulary for jazz players, and of course its seen its way into the realm of funk R&B, hip hop, soul, rock, and pretty much every other form of modern popular music save heavy metal (although you probably could prove me wrong there too!)
Yea, he was the man. Personally not my fav. to listen to, but if I was alive back in the day, before Miles and all those guys hit the scene...He would have been my favorite Im sure.
