I wasn't sure where to post this so thought here would be a good start, I might ask for it to be moved later.

I was writing an email to a friend regarding recent events, the G8 protests etc, and I am currently reading a series of books which have had me thinking more and more about life, the state of the world and our impact on it.

So I have put together the following poll to see what others out ther think.

Thanks for your time, and your contributions.

    My answers to the poll:

"The world is a messed up place"

This is a broad statement, so that peoples answers can be broad. I personally think that the world is pretty messed up. We are stripping it of all of it's resources, wiping out countless species of plant and animal life and polluting our atmosphere and ecosytems whilst we do it. Add to that wars, famine, poverty and disease and I ask myself where did it all go wrong?

"I want to see radical change and am prepared to take action"

I want people to be held accountable for their actions, from the individual throwing crisp packet on the floor to governments and multi-nationals who kill, plunder and pilage on a daily basis. I am prepared to take action, be it protesting, leafleting, lobbying, or larger and more severe mass action.

"I don't believe that things will change so why try"

I think this every day. And yet I still try, it's like banging my head against a brick wall!!

"When did we loose sight that we all start out equal?"

Before the days of Kings & Queens, before greedy land owners and slave masters, we were all equal. We lived in small tribes. Leaders were choosen (not self appointed) and were humbled by the opportunity to share their skills and knowledge. We had more time than we knew what to do with, so we told stories, played games and did "hobbies". We appreciated our surroundings and worked with each other and the environment. So where did it all go wrong? And is it too late to ever go back?

"I get frustrated on a daily basis by injustices in the world"

The only cure for this one seems to be NOT taking in any news for a couple of weeks! The biggest injustices seem to be caused by media hype and bias.

So, now you know why I don't sleep at night!!

You missed off.. the world is getting better..but because there will alway be self intrest/injustice in the world.. nothing will be perfect. You have to look on the bright side of life sometimes.. Bit long i admit.

Thanks so far peeps. It seems that we all think along a similar line.

Matthew, I do often see the bright side of things, but I usually have to be a long way away from everyone and everything - like up a mountain for example!
