Chain Reaction Crap falls from the sky, and rolls downhill! Whilst the bullshit flies, in every direction, Making it difficult to say which way is up, And compelling an incendiary chain reaction! Flames flying in every direction! Explosions going off everywhere, Fingers pointing, in any direction, Uncertain whether to laugh or cry! Some jokes, shouldn't be repeated. Lowbrow, Three Stooges Slapstick! Indignant protests fall on deaf ears, Endless Pointless Personal Bullshit! Roosters strutting, around in circles, Hens ducking, bobbing, and weaving! Panicked by even their own shadows, Torturing all the small-fry,half to death! Trying never to forget who to peck next! Looking for the most, challenging fight! Blaming God, fate, and fickle lady luck! Blaming one another, and Mother Earth! Blaming others while asking forgiveness! But our crap never stops rolling downhill, Rock bottom is every day, if there is no up, If nobody wants what keeps coming round! If nobody wants to hear anybody’s bullshit! I’m from Missouri myself the show-me state, Where a chicken is still legally a walking vegetable! Because, we never did buy everyone’s bullshit! Having all too often, been sold down the river! By our own politicians and redneck neighbors! Driving their own children from their churches, Dodging taxes doing business from their pews, Using their church pulpit, for political stumping, Promoting their, Libertarian Paradise by the sea! Using their churches for recruiting KKK members, Preachers competing for the most vitriolic sermon. Fundamentals, have the worst social records of all, In the entire country and civilized developed world, Blame everyone else in the world for their problems, Whilst, forcing their very own Libertarian politicians, To even pass a law, against voting for Mickey Mouse! You can’t fix stupid but no one ever lost money trying. You can’t teach an old dog new tricks when he’s dying, Jesus can’t save people who refuse to save themselves! Jesus can’t save those who keep demanding to be saved. When studies done by, even the evangelical Bana Group, Indicated those who regularly used their own two hands, In humble service, to the welfare of their own community, Lived up to their own personal, religious moral standards! Using their own two hands they remain in touch with God! Proving that crap rolling downhill presents an opportunity! For yet another kind of incendiary, chain reaction altogether, Acknowledging for ourselves, we are the world, we are children! And becoming vulnerable reaching out to each other is who we are, A good Samaritan helps their own community to become more loving.
Whoa, this was a difficult poem to write, not because it required a lot of work, but because I never in my life ever thought for one second about taking on fundamentalist churches and Libertarians. I used to attend fundamentalist churches sometimes, just because they can be great people to hang around with, if you go to the right church. The Holy Rollers tend to often have a complete rock-n-roll band and a good friend of mine, who is atheist, used to play pipe organ for several churches. As for Libertarians, I'm a military brat and many of the people I know, love, and respect are all die hard fascists. The issue for me is not what people believe, but what they know to be true for themselves. I'd say the finished book will be anywhere from around 500-1,000 pages long or more, but I'd prefer about 350. With any luck, this poem marks the beginning of the end of the poetry for my book. I'm pretty sure I have enough poems now, maybe 240 that will go in the book, to cover all the basic philosophy, linguistics, and physics. I have perhaps 8 chapters that are all but finished, and have to write perhaps 3-5 more. This particular poem is one I spent weeks working on and that grew to be many pages long, almost ten years ago when I started writing the poems. I had to set it aside when it became obvious I just didn't have all the required metaphors. You could say my poetry expresses the emotional process and rudimentary emotional-logic involved, speaking to the subconscious mind, while the chapters cover the details and connect the dots bridging academic philosophy with physics and Pragmatic Taoism. Going back and forth between the two, I can present them both as expressing a single enormous multifractal equation that is self-consistent, nontrivial, and demonstrable. That might sound strange, but I can literally look at almost anything I want to read and immediately tell what kind of equation it expresses and where the author made serious logic errors, all without having to read anything more than maybe the title and first paragraph. Its really handy when skimming through endless technical data to just be able to view every word as gibberish.

Note that perhaps half a dozen of these are virtually the original lyrics to songs, perhaps another dozen contain significant portions of songs, and the only issue in our poetry is whether the words are popular and commonly used. I could add quite a few more popular songs, but limited them so as not to add any more poems than were actually required for the book. The songs I chose were all better than anything I thought I could write myself, or as good as I could possible do myself.
