Does someone own them, city.. state, privately? Could one discriminate from one body to the next on which they will accept? Where does the money go that people have to bury someone... all to upkeep of the cemetery?
^ Well, we have a Jewish cemetery here... I guess no gentiles? Could a cemetery refuse blacks? Would that be allowed?
the really old ones are usually not owned by anyone, and they have volunteers that do the upkeep on them. we have one cemetery (that is a bit famous) that has the old pioneers' graves (concrete rectangled with grass in the middle). Theres one that just has "baby lee" on the concrete. I checked the books on the cemetery at the library, and there is no info, back then apparently the pioneers lost a baby and buried it there and then went on their way. I put flowers on that grave every spring. I have a hobby of cemetery photography. i have photo albums of the older historical cemeteries around here.
....i've always wondered why they burry people sideways...? they should be burried up and down to save space.....
i saw on one of those daytime Judge Douchebag shows where someone was suing a church because the church refused to bury a body in the plaintiff's family plot. so yes, there is clearly some sort of discretion allowed in deciding who will be buried there. although it wasn't an outright refusal, the church just wanted the family of the deceased to actually pay for the grave and funeral...
to make it seem like they are sleeping, and allow gravity to have it's peace, and their body to maintain it's dignity.
??? you think i am desecrating cemeteries? i dont understand that comment. i just find history fascinating. i dont disturb anything. i take photos of everything. im the annoying person with a camera that waits for the moment of a great picture. i think there is so much beauty to photograph.
