Are you more of a cat person or a dog person. I'm a cat person. I'm getting my own place today and I'm getting my first cat next month. I never had one when I was a child because my mom was allergic to them.
Both. I guess I really couldn't choose one over the other. If I could only have one or the other though I would choose a dog. Right now I have both. Will you be getting your cat from the local shelter? Adopting a new animal is always so awesome. You'll have to post pics when you get him/her.
Both for sure. I love all animals. Did you know snails can sleep for three years? I found that interesting.
Both Dogs seem more fun to interact with and have loyalty. But cats have a very admirable spirit. Prefer rabbits though
Elle I'll be adopting one from petsmart. I'm going to get a boy. I'm going to name it joker because I love that name obviously. All of them at the store are potty trained, nuterd, some of them declawed. I don't know if I can post pics up of it because I don't have a scanner. I have a digital camera though. I've been looking for it. Last person who had it was my mom. I'll post a pic if I can
I am MOST DEFINITELY a cat person through & through. Not saying I don't like dogs, I love all animals, but I can relate to cats better.
I'm a cat person, most definately. You're geeting a DECLAWED animal? Aww, man, that's awful. Declawing is one of the worst things to do to an animal, the amount of suffering is unbelieveable. And why? The animal has claws naturally. *Shakes head* America is one of the very few contries which still does this. It upsets me greatly. It's been illegal over here in UK for a long, long time.
Oh God no don't do that! Seriously there are so many beautiful sweet natured cats in rescues that need a home far more than those petshop ones. They will be killed otherwise, unless it's no kill shelter and those seem thin on the ground. There are so many horror stories of breeders, especially for big chains like that, and from the animals just in a pet shop (well could you be gawped at, prodded, then carted off to parts unknown and not crack?). Declawing is terrible, cats are supposed to have claws (hence being born with them). To take them away is painful, unnatural and can set them up for problems later. You just have to teach them not to scratch. If you can't handle that well frankly you shouldn't adopt one. Don't see how they can be housebroken, the kittens must be tiny because older ones don't sell. They'll probably relapse in their strange new enviroment (your house) anyway. Definetly advocate neutering, that's very responsible. There are already way too many cats around without adding to the problem. Joker is a very sweet name, good luck.
Totally agree with sage. I always think it's best to support your local shelter and show these petshops that we do not support animals being sold as products or items in a store. I think any cat you get from anywhere will be "potty trained". It's natural for cats to want to use the bathroom in loose soil which is why they almost always go straight to the litter box without having to be trained. And I am pretty sure that any cat you adopt from a shelter will be neutered as well. It's common practice today to fix any cat's going out for adoption. I mean, either way...all cats need a great home -even the ones in the pet store. But when you buy an animal from a pet store it's only helping to keep the cycle going and frankly animals should not be sold in pet shops. I don't know whether you will agree or not....actually my cat beaker is from a pet shop. I went in to have a look around one day (wasn't planning on getting a cat that is for sure) and there were a few kittens in a tiny wire cage. I felt so bad for them but one of them kept staring at me and rubbing up against my hands through the cage. Everywhere I went in the store his eyes would follow me and he would meow at me. I couldn't leave him there -he was just begging me to save him! So $20 later and I have the best little friend in the whole world. He is my baby. I hope you find your digi - we would love to see some pics of your new arrival!
Dog I think its funny how most people are coke or pepsi- dog or cat etc. I am Dog-Coke (very southern) hehe how bout yall?
The dogs and cats from petsmart are from shelters, bringing them to the petstore helps them to get adopted. I think they have saved something like 8 million dogs and cats. I am a dog/coke person too.
I love cats and dogs... Growing up I had 2 cats and a dog.. Now I own 2 dogs...(no cats) So as for now I'm a dog person...but if my house was bigger and Angus was not a mean doggie I pro. had cats too! Fer
