Cat Stevens Gets The Boot

WASHINGTON- A plane bound for
Washington from London was diverted to Maine on tuesday Afterafter passenger Yusuf Islam-formerly know as Cat Stevens, showed up on a U.S. watch list, federal officials said.

The plane was met by federal agents at Maines's Bangor Int. Airport around 3pm.

HE WAS INTERVIEWED AND DENIED ADMISSION TO THE U.S. ON NATIONAL SECURITY GROUNDS SAID HOMELAND SECURITY SPOKESMAN DENNIS MURPHY.He said the man would be put on the first available flight out of the country Wednesday.

Islam, who was born Stephen Georgiou and took the stage name Cat Stevens in the 1960s, had a string on hit in the 70s.

He abandoned his muisc career in the last 70s and changed his name after being persuaded by orthodx Muslim teachers that his lifestyle was forbidden by Islamic law.

OK, WHAT YOUR TAKE ON THIS? ARE WE GOING OVER THE EDGE OR DO WE AS A COUNTRY NEED TO BE TOUGH?

 

The man who wrote Peace Train is a national security threat? Not every Muslim is a terrorist, just as not every Christian is a member of a militia! Both religions profess peace and tolerance, and not every believer should be held accountable for the actions of a few fanatics!

Yusuf Islam is FUNDING Al Queda and HAS BEEN for YEARS. Why, after all these years in London, has he just decided to jump on a plane and fly to the capital of a nation he hates?

After seeing the downfalls of one religion to jump into another is strange to me.All religions are nothing more then mind control and obviously this man is being controlled.Who knows what he's really up to.I don't trust any religious fanatic.He has voiced his support for religious militancy in the past,why not now?

 

How bout you get informed as well, I am a Big fan of Cat's and of Yusaf. The reason he became super spiritual is because he almost died, he was swimming and a rip tide pulled him out, he then said somehitng like if god helps him now he would dedicate his life to Him. Any who, and there are teh people like moonbeam here who think that he was funding Al Queda, NO, hell Fuck No, he did not fund Al Queda, he says he gave money to charities, as he aways does, and one turned out to be a religious militant group. How many charities do you give to that you know are 100% legit. This topic was in the music forum and things came up about the Rushdie Affair and this is what it says on the site. He was teaching one of his classes at a Muslim school, and someone asked him what Islamic law says about what Rushdie wrote, It said that anyone who makes fun of any profet (like moses, jesus, and muhammed) if found guilty would be put to death, BUT islamic law also sattes that although it is not a sin to kill and infedel (one not on the Islamic faith) you cannot disobey from the laws of country either...SO he never said to kill Rushdie, he said that from islamic law if the country would allow, and if he was found guilty, he waould be executed, which i do no support, and the thing is, i may be rambling here but anyways, judaism and christianity both also say that it is bad to insult the profets so How bout them apples..

BTW- I am not muslim, but this is what can be found out by doing research, like he was not on way to washington, after he was going to Nashville to record with his daughter, and that he was not told why he was held, and his family was not informed and he had no way to contact them...

I'm glad i dont live in the states.....though i would like to conduct an experiment, walk into a airport and try to fly, with tickets of course, witha beard and a turbin and make yourself look muslim and see ehat happens...

 

Well from what I read... he was once accused of supporting some radical palistine group, but he denied it and that he supportes terrorists at all. Also theres speculation that he was mixed up with some other person. He was with his family when that happened so I don't think they would do anything. *shrugs*

 

Yes, he did change, most people do, point is though, they had no proof, or evidence, so that is taking away his human rights. Whether or not he 'supports' Al Quieda is of no relevance. But, did he fund AL QUIEDA? No.

Ive been on is site too and read what he has to say about the rushdie affair and its total flim flam .he didnt just answer some questions and have them miss-reported.

he went on national tv with kalim siddequi (the man a lot of people believe went to iran to get khomeni to put the fatwa on in the first place ,kalim siddequis group the muslim parliment collected money for terrorists and he himself was in Iran shortly before the fatwa was proclaimed ).

he said that if he personally knew where rushdie was he would call some people and they would do some real harm to rushdie ,or he would call agents of khomeni , Id love to be able to get the full transcript of the interview he gave to newsnight on bbc2 then because he said it a lot clearer than the reports that are still available
but even those reports are as damning as hell

also he has never said that he doesnt want people like rushdie killed all hes said is that at the moment he cant kill him he states that under islamic law anyone who defames mohammed should be killed, so he would agree with the murder of people like rushdie in majority muslim states .

yes he may have written peace train or whatever, but most of his life hes been working to bring in islamic law world wide

so far there are about 5 threads on this subject that Ive posted on ,I remember his actions at the time because I was a supporter of salman rushdie then, I live in the uk and saw the campaign against him first hand.

YUSUF ISLAM'S OFFICIAL STATEMENT
First, I thank God for relieving me of my ordeal and delivering me home safe; also, thanks to all those who prayed for me and supported me through this whole dark episode, from eminent politicians, the press and religious leaders, to plain, everyday people. Never would I believe that such a thing could happen in the ‘land of the free’ - unfortunately, it did. But it’s warming to have such a wave of sympathy from my friends and my worldwide well-wishers.

After the experience of my dramatic deportation from the U.S.A. it feels like I am on a different planet from the one I was on a couple of days ago; certainly the world has changed, not for the best. Two days beforehand, I had started a journey with my daughter to Nashville, intending to initiate work on a new recording project. Suddenly, our aeroplane was diverted 600 miles to Bangor International Airport and I found myself surrounded by six uniformed officers and handed over to the FBI for questioning.

The most upsetting thing at this point was being separated from my daughter, Maymanah, not knowing how she was or when and where we might be united. And since my phone was confiscated I couldn’t contact my family (nor could they ring me) and they were relegated to watching the whole frightening episode on TV and surviving on scraps of information shown by the media.

My interrogators repeatedly wanted to know how my name was spelt; it sounded to me as though they had it mixed up with someone else’s. Security officers finally told me that my name was on a ‘No Fly List’, I was classified as ‘Inadmissible’, and sent back to London.

The amazing thing is that I was not given (and have still not been given) any explanation whatsoever as to what it is I am accused of, or why I am now deemed an apparent security threat - let alone given an opportunity to respond to these allegations. I was simply told that the order had come from ‘on high’.

We have now initiated a legal process to try to find out exactly what is going on, and to take all necessary steps to undo the very serious, and wholly unfounded, injustice which I have suffered.

I am a man of peace and denounce all forms of terrorism and injustice; it is simply outrageous for the U.S. authorities to suggest otherwise. I have dedicated my life to promoting peace and understanding throughout the world. It would be devastating were the charity work I do through my humanitarian relief organisation, Small Kindness, which helps countless children and families, and which is accredited by the United Nations, to be undermined by what has happened.

What makes the situation even more distressing is the fact that I have now been prevented from entering the United States - a part of God’s earth that I love and whose people have always been great friends to me.

Yet, after all this, I can think of no better response than by continuing what I believe to be the tremendously important work of caring for the needy and campaigning for peace and stability in this volatile and increasingly violent world, and at the same time try to seek to clear my name of this appalling and baseless slur. In the meantime I am confident that, in the end, good sense and, above all, justice, will prevail.

 

You need to dig a little deeper into your research of the CAT. The guy made his own bed. FUCK, I would have sent the bastard back too if only to have made a point. I would have put him on a raft and stamped him return to sender.

Mr. Peace Train had every right to follow which ever god he wanted, but if you have read all he has written and spoke about, I wouldn't want him back in the U.S. either. Good call.

 

am just wondering how many has read the Qur'an..the muslim bible..it teaches muslims to hate the white man as he is the white devil and their goal is to wipe us out of the human race.. as being a white woman.. I think this is appaling.... some of you that are in supporting Yusef Islam are you caucasion?? are you supporting your own distruction..educatate yourselves on the subject before you decide to support anything or anyone.. Yusaf is white(and by white, i mean not black arab or oriental, I know there are many races but that is besides the point) ...His dad is greek and his mom is sweetish.....He grew up disliking turks and muslims cause his dad, so how does he hate "the white devil"?
