castro has been having a go at the navy for buying attack subs he says cuba could train 75,000 doctors treat 150 million people and build 3,000 poly clinics to treat poor people for the money we are spending on 4 attack subs .

well cuba a tiny island does train a lot of doctors and they are doing a lot of good in poor countrys ,their also operating under american sanctions

why do we need 4 subs couldnt we and the russians and chinese disarm, the russians arent communist and they did want to join nato, the chinese are still commie but I dont see them starting a war especially if we both disarmed together .

you have iran and pakistan and suchlike, but with russia in nato and the usa we could nuke them if we had to with much less weaponary

I wouldn't disagree with any of that. The amount we spend on defence is obscene and our military culture is still based on cold war thinking, even though that threat has evaporated. Nuclear submarines? Please! The West has total global military and political dominance and would still have with a fraction of current defence spending. The money could be better spent on bringing the standard of living up around the world while fostering better international relations.

The other day you were defending Chavez. Now Castro? What's happening to you Jonny? I must say, I'm enjoying the mild weather down in Hell, but still, very unlike you!
