Carb Question

ok i thought of this when i was high and im still buzzin a little but the carb makes it so that a lot of oxygen goes in your lungs and mixes with the smoke, but why is this a good thing? Why would it be better than just pure smoke?

I think it's so you don't get dizzy while holding in a monster hit. Plus it lets you shotgun the chamber.

 

you hold the carb shut for a few seconds while inhaling then half way through let go of the carb and keep inhaling and it will shoot it down your throat.

as for the carb trippin is right, hold it til the chamber is filled and then let go and the air coming thru the carb will push the smoke into your lungs.

 

actually a shotgun is when you put the burning end of a blunt or joint in your mouth and blow thru it into anothers face

But anywho.... thumb carbs suck in my opinion on bongs... i wont buy a bong with a thumb carb, i prefer removable bowl stems... i feel that you clear the bong alot easier with them than thumb carbs

joker my bong kicks ass and it has a hand grip and u carb with ur pinky finger, its easy to clear too cuz its only a 10 inch

 

At least where I live, weve always called the hole you cover a shotgun. Never heard the term "carb" but you learn something new every day.

 

Thats the same here, the only other time id heard of a carberateur was on the instructions for my vaporizer and i didnt know what the hell it was saying...as far as bongs go ive only ever used a removable stem shotgun but that can be really tricky to get back in the hole if its really dark, especially if your FUBAR

 

Yea we definitely call it a carb here (in bowls at least).

Only purposes of the carb are to A) Fill the chamber with smoke (by putting a finger on it while inhaling) and B) Clear the smoke from the chamber (by releasing a finger and inhaling).

Didn't vietnam soldiers invent the whole 'shotgun' thing? I saw this documentary and they had footage of these vietnam guys blowing a pipe through and actual shotgun. They stuck the pipe in the bullet chamber, blew in the bowl, and all the smoke came out of the end of the gun. They were gettin' way high too.

 

i saw that on PBS... they didnt say much, it was a documentary on the vietnam war, and they had a small portion on reefer...

 

the carb allows you to take in larger hits than you would be able to through any other method. if it wasnt for the carb feature on a bong, it would be a hookah.


wihtout the shotty (as i call it - obvisouly originating from shotgun) your just inhaling cooled smoke, no other advantage of a bong.

if you fill a chamber, then release the shotty, you can inhale the whole chambers worth of smoke in like a second. it takes much longer to pull that amount of smoke through a the small hole at the bottom of the bowl than through the close (no water in between too)and larger hole thats right neath the mouthpiece.

think about it. if it wasnt for the shotty, then having a chamber would be absolutely 100% useless.

its not about oxygen or anything like that, its about getting the msot amount of smoke into your lungs in teh shortest amount of time (which links in with saying that it inscreases the pressure you inhale the smoke at, so the smoke hits our lungs harder and goes deeper).

this leads to getting less dizzy, the observation trippin made.

i dont see how you could oprefer a removable bowl. that involved handling the bowl while smoking. why the hell would you ratehr have to remove the bowl and handle it, than just move your thumb less than an inch?????? it really isnt any less effective, if your under that pre-imposed illusion. you just need a big enough carb.

and jman, what is wrong with the water at the military base? is it boar water or something? or from a military reservoir? that sorta stuff is foul but generally illegal to replace water that is meant for drinking and stuff :S

 

sorry im stoned and i realised you are probably jsut saying you find water in general is disgusting. if so.. thats still a pretty whack concept man, considering water is the most essential thing for your body to have, you could survive without any food or drink for a while but not water. lol but i think your water must have somehting in it for it to actually taste bad, i mean water generally jsut tastes like neutral to anyone ive ever known :S i never go anywhere wihtout a bottle of water unless i forget.
