Haven't heard caravan for many years - but used to like them. Best albums as I recall - 'the land of grey and pink', 'cunning stunts', 'blind dog at st. dunstans'. Songs that stick in my mind - 'golf girl', 'The land of grey and pink'.
The only Caravan album I have is In the Land of Grey and Pink, and I quite like it. My favorite song is probably the title track.
I have in the land of the grey and pink, which is pretty good...... the epic track is what makes the album most definitely.
i like caravan, havnt heard a whole album but a song tht stood out was 'in the land of the grey and pink' its good
funny thing is that they came from the same backround soft machine and caravan...some of the memebers collaborated on the previous band called wilde flowers
and gong. daevid allen was in that group, and he was supposed to be a part of soft machine, until his residency was revoked in the UK...... he then settled in france and started the band, gong....... anyways, all of these groups are part of what you call, the canterbury scene.
I don't have the ability to download. If I could I would have already plus many other songs that you people listen to.
"I wish I was stoned out of my mind" from "if i could do it all over again Id do it all over you" a great album
They're much better than the soft machine, which is saying a lot. Haha, does anyone know anything besides "ïn the land"?
i also like the soft machine, but i would agree that their style is quite wierd when i first heard them, took me a little while to like them tho
"For Girls Who Grow Plump In The Night" and the song "The Dog, The Dog, He's At It A Caravan" which is an ode to blowjobs...so obviously caravan has that relaxed humourous jazzy approach.
They're one of my favorite bands, man, "In The Land Of Grey And Pink" is a awesome album. My favorite songs from it are "Love To Love You", "In The Land Of Grey And Pink", and "Golf Girl". Other awesome Caravan songs are "If I Could Do It All Again, I'd Do It All Over You", "Grandma's Lawn" and "Where But For Caravan Would I?". I love a lot of the bands that play their genre of music..It's called the Cantebury Scene. It's British psychedelic music mixed with humorus lyrics. It's great.
Dr John did a great version of Caravan on his Ellington Tribute album. And to think it came about because Juan Tizol just played it as a warmup and somebody decided, "hang on a minute, there's a tune in there!"
