I don't know if anyone remembers me, but I used to post on here a lot, a number of years ago. Anyways, to make a long story short, I got caught up for the first time in my life and was forced to go to a rehab, lost the place I lived at, and now I am being forced to live in an SLE (Thats a sober liveing environment.) It sucks only becuase I am being forced into it. Other than that, it's not that bad. It's a alright break (This comes from about ten years of drug use, and thats not just weed, actually, it turned into everything but heroin.) So yeah, not sure why I posted this... There's a special spot in my heart for weed and it's already been 2 months and I have only 2 more months to go, so wish me luck. BTW, when I start smoking again, I think I'll just stick to weed... even my alcohol ended up getting out of control... ~Ediction
In my life I've triend just about every kind of drug. I even shot up coke (once) and smoked heroin. But about 10 years ago I saw the terrible toll substance abuse exacted on my friends. So I quit everything except weed (lots of it every day, mostly for medical reasons) A 6-pack of beer a week A shot of tequilla about 2 x a year and shrooms every few years. And I don't in the least miss all the crap I used to waste my money on, not to mention all the other problems substance abuse entails. I wish you well.
yeah weed is definitely the way to go. congratulations on going to rehab. u might not have liked it... but hey can it really hurt you?
Actually, I think that it can. A lot of the rehab centers around the country focus on the 12-Step methodology. If you're not famliar with this, it involves admitting that you are completely powerless over your addiction, that you have a "disease" that is forcing this on you (thus disclaiming any personal sensibillity), and putting your life into the hands of a "higher-power" (God). To be blunt, many people that I know (my parents) who participate in AA, or a 12-Step Program, just trade off the addiction of whatever drug it was, for the program itself. It might be a little better than whatever it was you were addicted to, but even AA can become medlesom in one's life at some point. Growing up with folks that go in and out of AA, and see everyone come out of it, I can honestly say that 12-Step programs CAN be harmful. Hopefully he's not going through one. Probably is, however; only about 3% of the rehab centers across the country use anything but 12-step programs.
Rational Recovery : The New Cure for Substance Addiction by Jack Trimpey (Author) Check this book out it really helped me with my recovery. Good luck.
