Just leave it alone [IMG] back comb it if you want, and then just leave it to do its thang. Mine took ages to start knotting up, but it was worth the wait. And don't put any pressure on your hairs... just give them a pep talk or two, and then let them spread the word around your hair, and things will be fine. Have fun! [IMG]

its takes patence and time. even when you back comb some parts are going to unravel and knot back up how they want to be knotted. This isnt some hairstyle you can aquire in a day. some sweet dreads you may have seen take years to grow. a tip for you- be natural. comb if youd like but just leave em alone, beads and wraps cover up ugly parts, but the best thing to do is to stay away from product and use soaps that dont have residues... this makes your hair silky and not what to knot. GOOD LUCK.

exactamundo. this isn't an overnight thing. everyone gets discouraged every now and again but calm down, give them time....and when you pass someone with really lovely dreads, whisper to your babies that one day they will be strong and tight just like those if they just hang in there. ;)

Same thing happened to me when I first backcombed. I found out it was because my backcombing was not tight enough (I was scared of breaking the hair off, so I was careful). ISo I undid it.
This time I washed my hair the night before, braided my hair whilst damp and went to bed. Next day i undid the braids and backcombed *really* hard. I mean so tightly that you couldnt poke a comb into the dreads. It stayed put, no unravelling whatsoever, and I first washed it only a few days after.
The only bit that came loose were the tips...... and I twist n rip those now.
Its been about 6 washes since and they're locking up nicely. And I really scrub too! Good luck
