Any Canadian music fans out there? Anyone wanna discuss? Canadian music is my favorite. Among my favorites are The Tragically Hip, Sam Roberts, Hey Rosetta!, Broken Social Scene, Dan Mangan, Timber Timbre, City and Colour. The list goes on and on. Anyone wanna elaborate, I would love some discussion
I´m not Canadian and therefore mainly know artists and bands that had some international success. i´m a huge fan of Rush and Neil Young, a casual fan of Cowboy Junkies, Arcade Fire, The New Pornographers and Big Sugar also like: The Band, Social Broken Scene, The Tragically Hip, Black Mountain, The Tea Party, Blue Rodeo, The Sadies, The Dears,The Devin Townsend Project and a few more that don´t come to mind right now.
I'm from Ontario, and I love love love all the Canadian indie and alternative music that has been coming out lately. I'd be totally up for discussion! Some of my favorites are: Broken Social Scene, Arcade Fire, Owen Pallett, Chad VanGaalen, Said the Whale, Metric, The New Pornographers, Land of Talk,The Most Serene Republic, Dan Mangan, La Dispute, K.C. Accidental, Do Make Say Think, A Silver Mt. Zion, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, to name a few. The list goes on and on and on!
I didnt know Black Mountain was Canadian, their great. Ive seen the Sadies live 3 times, they blow my mind everytime, those guys have skills. How about The Sheepdogs, those guys recently found success and are recording their new album right now. Deep Dark Woods are another amazing band.
I was gonna' completely not participate whatsoever in this thread if some Emily Haines related project had not been mentioned in the O.P. If She's ever in need of the "Apocalyptic-love-child", She is free to hunt me down at any time. More than glad to donate what I can to the project. :cheers2:
I totally forgot to mention my love I love Joni Mitchell, Leonard Cohen, Sarah McLachlan, Alanis Morisette & Feist <3
I find that they're all the kind of bands that people from outside of the genre can enjoy. The Dinner Belles are nothing like what I normally listen to, but they just do it so well that I can't help but love it.
