Well we have to choose a book for school to read for a project, this would be easy except for the fact the author has to be Canadian. I was just wondering if you all could recommend me some good beat/hippie canadian authors, I am going to ask if i can use Jack Kerouac since his parents were Canadian but in case that doesn't work out could any names would be helpful.

Paul Quarrington is a really good author to check out.
Read "Whale Music." It's definitely a hippie book. I loved it.
I actually did do a school project on it.

Mark Vonnegut, Kurt's son, wrote a book called The Eden Express which deals with moving to a hippie commune in British Columbia where he is forced to deal with his schizophrenia. It's hippie and its set in Canada, though, arguably, Mark was only Canadian for the duration of the book.
