It is rumoured that we do, but I don't buy it. I think we used to, but now we just have a symbolic army. Just enough of one to say we have one.

This offends me. I am a member of the Canadian Armed Forces so therefore, yes we have an army. If this is a joke, it is in really bad taste and if you are serious that is very sad. While it is true that our budget is not very big and the state of our equiptment is poor, but the men and women who protect this country deserve your respect. Thank you.

we used to have a base near here, but it shut down. it is a joke. BC doesn't even have an army base in the whole province as far as i know, and we're bigger than texas. i once read that if israel was next door and we had a war, they'd win in half an hour.

Yeah. We are a peace loving country because of the men and women who cared enough to DIE for this country. We have an army and we should be proud of them! and not bad mouth them for things that are out of their control (like the defence budget!)

My uncle just retired from the Canadian Armed Forces. He flew Hercules Jets for them for many, many years, and was kept on after his age of retirement. He flew relief missions all over the world, bringing food, clothes, and medicines to people who needed them. So... yeah. Canada has an Army. Its just that our army spends a lot of time helping people, so it might not be instantly recognizable as an Army to some.

yes BC dose have military bases
    -CFB Esquimalt - naval base
-CFB Comox - air force base
-I think theirs a big military training aria west of Wiliams Lake too

canada has aproxamatly 60 000 military personal, plus another 21000 reservists. Of the 19 Nato members canada ranks 6th in total military spending. so where not wimps by any means

And lets not forget Canadas JTF2. so secret a service that most candians havnt even heard of them http://www.hackcanada.com/canadian/freedom/secretarmy.html

I said 'army' when I posted, I am from Victoria, and have been to CFB Esquimalt, and Comox. They are as you said, naval and air force bases. I don't think we are wimps, and believe that individually, our troops match up well against any. Still, 60 000 troops are not going to do much against a 1 000 000 man army. I have met a member of JTF2, and if he is any example of their quality, they are very highly trained.
