Canada needs to seriously strengthen its policies on immigration, and set some stricter groundrules to becoming a citizen. Ridiculous.
Its not that. Its that WE accomodate them, rather than THEM becoming an actual Canadian. WTF? We are french and english speaking, so learn one. oh ya- and take off your burka to vote.
damn, and i wanted to emmigrate to canada someday with my wife...damn me and my non english speaking ways...
yes, i wanted to be a canadian one day too. but i don't think i'll ever get enough college education to wrack up sufficient points.
ya know something, I was going to post something on this today in the US but didn't. I didn't get a job today because I don't speak spanish. I didn't ask them to come to our country and speak their language everywhere!
Them good ol' Native Americans sure didn't ask you to come to their country and speak your filthy English everywhere
This is true. But it was not I who came over here. It was Christopher Columbus and all of his syphillis ridden men. (yes, I found out that Columbus brought syphillis over here)
You're missing my point: Immigration is inevitable. Your country's economy would collapse in seconds if it wasn't for these immigrants. Maybe you should go out and learn Spanish instead of complaning about not being hired because of it. Imagine this... the next generation of Americans could very probably grow up to be bi-lingual. Isn't that a good thing?
And I don't have a problem with their language...it's when they act as if they are better because they are sitting there flapping it all over-as if no one else knows spanish. I pick up on some of it. And their language and our language have the same origin...but all in all...it's ridiculous that I am an American...looking for a job-IN AMERICA and I can' get it because I don't speak a certain language?! Bullshit if you ask me!
I know some spanish-not enough of it though. I'm taking the class next semester EDIT: And I shouldn't HAVE TO learn that language! Americans speak english-or as some refer to it-American. Not spanish. My mother was born in Italy and she worked hard to learn English and speaks it perfectly. She barely even has an accent, now.
i have to agree with malia. english is our language. its useful to know spanish, or any other language for that matter, but it shouldn't be required.
it would be a good thing yet, its not pushed as something that should be taught in school until you get to higher grades. i didn't learn a foriegn language because it was taught to me too late when i didn't care for it because i had better things to do with my time. they need to start in elementary school with the language.
