Canada recorded an all time high temperature of 49.5 degrees celsius, and and more than 230 deaths have been reported in the ongoing heat wave.

More than 230 deaths reported in Canada amid historic heat wave

Experts have stated that climate change is expected to increase the frequency of extreme weather events, such as heatwaves.

This should be (but isn't) a wake up call to all the world leaders to do a whole lot more to tackle global warming !!!

What happened in Canada with the temps should tell you a lot and perhaps changes will need to be made which should have happened a long time ago.

You guys are all crazy. There's no global warming!! There's no climate change!!! The aerial pictures of the Arctic ice shield, the Greenland ice shield, and Antarctic ice disappearing are ALL FAKE NEWS!!!! Scientists don't know what they're doing!!!! How do I know this????????

Because T**** and THE REPUBLICAN PARTY have said it's a hoax ........................... and they would never lie ..................... right????????????????????????

For those who don't recognize my "handle" on here .......................... that's BIG-TIME sarcasm.

I've always been a weather geek since my 10th birthday, and as a kid who wanted to swim in the local creeks, I watched for high 80's or over-90 degree days. We used to get MAYBE 3 or 4 days of 90 degrees or above in any summer. For a number of years now - the last 25 or so - we have more than 25 days, sometimes more than 30 days above 90. As kids we used to pray for a 90 degree day - because that meant ALL DAY at the creek swimming. Now I pray for a break from 90 degrees. AC gets expensive.

    I know .............. I'm imagining things.

Yesterday, I read of a town the same size of mine; Lytton, B.C., which hit 121.3°F/49.6°C; the hottest temperatures ever recorded in Canada for three consecutive days.
This evening, I read that wildfire burned Lytton to the ground today.
British Columbia has suffered at least 486 sudden deaths since the start of the heat wave, nearly 200 times more than normal.

As self-serving political idiots keep brainwashing the populations, this will only get worse. Half the U.S. population thinks climate change is a "hoax." They believe T**** and THE REPUBLICAN PARTY's lies and bullshit ..................... and view REAL SCIENTISTS as know-nothing morons. THE REPUBLICAN PARTY has always been - and still is - controlled by big money, rich people and corporations' greedy self interests. Notice I did NOT say every Republican is bad?? It's the power brokers at the top that ruin everything for even the avg. American Republicans. The avg. Republican doesn't benefit from moving "American" jobs to China, India, Mexico, Indonesia, Honduras, Guatemala, Bangladesh, etc. - - - - or the insane climate indifference demonstrated by the REPUBLICAN PARTY. A dying world will be felt and suffered through by ALL people, regardless of country or political affiliation. We live in what is really a giant terrarium (anyone remember that from science class in school??) ........... a self-contained environment that we continue to pollute and destroy.

If any of you believe the Bible and Jesus' own words .............. the world doesn't end quickly in a big love-hug. It will involve wars, strange new diseases and pestilences, years of massive suffering "the likes of which mankind has never seen before" , and that "mankind will be distraught at the roaring of the wind and the waves." - - - - Sounds like a climate catastrophe to me.

Because of (some of) mankind's never-ending greed, hungry lust for ever more money & power, and indifference toward the world we live in ............ we're destroying our ONLY HOME - the earth.

UN confirms 18.3°C/64.9°F record heat in Antarctica

The Antarctic Peninsula is among the fastest-warming regions of the planet—almost 3°C over the last 50 years. Recent research has shown that warming of two degrees Celsius could melt the ice sheets atop Greenland and the West Antarctic—with enough water to raise sea levels 13 metres (43 feet).

I have a feeling some of these gomers will still argue against climate change when they're up to their testicles in water. What's the saying, ".......... you can't fix ...........". ??

Politics hasn't failed, - its the scumbag 'nasty party' members who think that politics is a career choice instead of a service and then take decisions to preserve their little corner of it whilst enriching themselves in the process instead of looking at the bigger picture and taking decisions on behalf of the community.

Politics is quite successful for those that are willing to play the money game to the extreme regardless of the known consequences, which are the republicans mainly. The dems are not as guilty , but they better start getting VERY, VERY radical as concerns the health of the planet.

I often say that I believe the planet is a living organism in some threads just like this one. A member then reminded me of words used to differ the planet from a living organism. The thing is... Those are just prehistoric words to describe Earth. We now know of pH Values and how nutrition depends upon ice. Only living organisms have pH values.

This graph shows the R-A-P-I-D growth in atmospheric CO2 since when?? The beginning of the industrial age. Since roughly 1880, the CO2 levels have spiked like a rocket ................ in 140 years. Political sets of flapping lips will point to ancient historic info that says CO2 levels were as high or higher in prehistoric times. No argument there ........................ but the time frames for them to get that high were over thousands or tens-of-thousands of years - not a ridiculously miniscule 140 years. And also of note for doubters ................. during those times of prehistoric climate upheavals ............ mass extinctions took place and most species became extinct.

Maybe some of todays "ultra-tough" he-men, living in air-conditioned homes & condos, dependent on their computers and instantaneous communication, electricity, good medical care, indoor plumbing, and food aplenty ........ T-H-I-N-K they could survive without ALL OF THOSE COMFORTS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hell, with the pandemic "closures" and discomforts of about 15 months, most folks were crying and whining about how terrible life was while inside their comfy homes, with enough food & water, electricity, indoor plumbing, showers, AC, TV ...................... you get the picture. If 15 months was driving people to depression, think about continued climate upheaval and it's effects. More droughts, floods, hurricanes, temperature extremes (= less & less food production), oceans already overstressed and over-fished / dying coral reefs / ocean food chains disrupted by temperature rise (= less fish and seafood for the whole world) - not to mention the rapidly-warming oceans' negative effects on global weather. Power grids will be maxxed-out and will fry to self-destruction. No more AC, power for A-N-Y-T-H-I-N-G - pumps for water, lights, communication, healthcare ...........

After the amount of crying and whining that arose from a meager 15 months of "suffering" .......... I don't think many of the self-assured "tough guys" would last very long at all. No take-out pizza and no cold beer will do them in quickly.

But hey .................... let's party today, do whatever the hell we want, as much as we want ................ and let TOMORROW'S worries fall on the kids and grandkids.
