"reading the odyssey.... no wait the sparknotes of the odyssey....."

that's a friend's away message, i hate it that people are too lazy to just read the actual book, or do well in their work, i understand how opressing school is and how much it strangles learning, which is why i turned to homeschooling, but i have a feeling they're not reading because they're lazy

No, the worst EVER was when all these people, juniors in high school at the time, were complaining about reading HUCKLEBERRY FINN. Come on, people! You need the sparks notes for THAT??? Aahh, fools.

hah, there's kids now. I swear... We were reading beowulf a little while ago. Half the class thought beowulf was the fucking monster! omfg. Seriously, kids are fucking stupid. And remember now, this is florida, so all our public schools are nerfed like a mofo and everything is half as easy as it would be(should be) anywhere else. These people are just fucking dumbasses.

PS: your friend must be a real fucktard if she/he needs sparknotes for the odyssey. I did'nt even know they made sn for books that easy.

I actually liked the odyssey. I'm in an honors english class, so we don't get many idiots, but I do in some of my other classes. You think going to florida schools is bad? Half the kids in my history class didnt know where florida was when we were filling out a map of the states. Thats bad.

Well, i dont know what kind of books do you have to read in american schools, but here in argentina, the books we are supposed to read for school are really depressing... personally i love reading (Rimbaud, Nietzsche, Kafka, Huxley, Cortazar) in fact im studing a carreer with lot of reading time, but really good books, not like the ones from school.

I thought the Oddyssey was the most boring book I've ever read...until I read Silent Spring.

You'd be surprised there are at least 10-20 kids in our grade who honestly cannot read. Simple as that, they CAN'T READ. Like, what good are we doing passing these kids over and over, letting them have all their books on tape? Sure they're passing, but that isn't what is important. What is important is that they learn to read... A skill that kind of comes in handy in life.

first off, what is spark notes?and my english class is full of dumbasses. they all complain about having to read books and i finished 1984 in 5 days. of corse its my own fault, i dont try too much (though im really smart) in school and then i got put in a class with all the borderline retarded kids.

haha. kids these days are undoubtedly morons. they all copy off each others' stupid mindless answers. they cant spell, cant process, they barely even think. they spit out what they learn or pound in their heads, then forget it the next day, because "hey, it's not important.i dont care." its bullshit.
