'Surviving' as an individual without a computer for 24 hours is nothing

Having a business/service survive 24 hours without a computer, now that could be a challenge.

To be honest, I couldn't do it. At present, the TV tuner card installed is the only TV I have. Being somewhat disabled, I'd go nuts without some form of entertainment.

I could, but I would just watch loads of TV instead

I didn't have a computer until I was 21. Twenty-four hours without the computer would be nothing.

I never used the internet till I was about 34, and I still go days without using one. I also don't own a cell phone, ipod, blackberry or any other fancy techno gadget.
Seems like I saw a segment about this on the "Today" show this week.

Yep, did it a couple weeks ago. Computers and the internet isn't everything.

Yeah, I could, but wouldn't want to, because I get the most truthful news off the net. It takes some work to get accurate reports, but I hate relying on the broadcast news for what is actually going on. I'd rather hit the drudge report and other sites before buying into anything I see on TV.

Once again, being honest, I'm alone most of the day. I like the cyber-company of folks like yourselves.
Gives me someone to talk to besides myself.

For quite a while, my computer has been just about the only way for me to communicate with the 'outside world'. Now it's the only way for me to communicate with my girlfriend in Poland. If I can't communicate with her for more than a day, I go bananas! :hysterica

    Yes.

But when you're lonely and hate most television, forums are just ace.

The computer is indeed my only access to the world right now, living in solitude... but could I survive without it? Ya... for years.

Not only am I a complete computer addict but all that negativity which surrounds the term is put to good use by the fact that my addiction is not so much to do with simply using a computer but learning EVERYTHING I can about computer networks and how to keep computer networks running - current technology and how to use it - more to the point - how to use it in ways undocumented or hidden - so as to get the most out of it - yes I am a hacker of technology but thankfully that addiction also enables me to run a business based on my knowledge and I am thankful for even an hours break from these goddam machines - but when I am back there learning from them again - well I am just glad they got invented

so yes I can survive a few hours without one but 24 hours is really pushing the limits of endurance
