you can...but i definately would not reccomend it. Piercing guns lead to infection b/c they blast thru the skin. I would most definately suggest going to a professional and having it done with a needle...or if you want to do it yourself make sure you sterilize everything and use a needle and not a gun :)

alright! My friend as a job at Ardenes... don't know if any of you know that, but they do ear piercing there. And she can give us free piercings. But I don't really want my ear pierced. But I really thought getting my nose pierced would look awsome.

You should really just go for the needle. It is not costly, it is probably much safer for your nose. Plus those piercer guys in the tat shops are usually pretty hot! Also, you will have the option of a corkscrew nose ring ( I prefer those, and wont wear anything else....but everyone is different) I think they are much easier to clean and rotate and everything that you have to do when you first get it. Good luck:)

i would suggest a needle. Make sure you know enough about the guy/girl who is going to peirce you...get it done somewhere CLEAN.

....but really...for the nose, i got mine done with a needle.
    I had no problems...

    best of luck!
Feel free to PM me for anymore questions regarding this issue.

Sooo.. uhm... I ended up getting it done with a gun. The girl said she'd done hers so many times (took them out and re-pierced a lot) and never had a problem. Plus, it was completely free for me because my friend works there. Well... my friend tried to do it but didn't know what she was doing!! (I didn't know that until AFTER I jumped and the nose ring stabbed my nose a little to high, didn't even go all the way in.) But then her friend did it because she's done it so many times. It was fine. But now... it's soooo sore. I clean it often, doesn't look infected at all. But everytime I sniff or flare my nostrils... it hurts!!! :( I'm really hoping I didn't make a mistake!

That really wasn't a good idea to try and save money like that......I just got my nose done last weekend, and the only time it hurt is when the guy put the needle through, and when he was putting the corkscrew in. Or when I was cleaning it the second day and I accidently unscrewed the jewellery half way.
The other thing about the guns are that they actually punch a hole in your skin, instead of the needle which just makes a slice. That is part of the reason why you get infection from using guns anywhere but your lobes.
But now that it is done, you will have to keep a close eye on it for a while. Use contact solution to clean it(not saline solution!), or you can use those q-tips with the medication in them, which is what my piercing guy gave me.
Good luck! :D Hope it looks great!

Awe man... I really didn't think it would be a problem because the chick said she did it all the time. Feck.

I've got this ear piercing antiseptic. (benzalkonium chloride solution)

If I were to take it out now, and let it heal over, would it heal pretty well? Or is it better to try and stick it out? I can get it done with a needle later.

It really should not be still hurting you. I have had mine pierced and repierced probably about 4 times in the last 3 years (it fell out a couple of times and got lost:rolleyes:) and not once did it hurt beyond the point of the needle actually going through my nose. One guy even said that the cartiladge in my nose was starting to harden a bit from piercing the same spot so many times.....but it never hurt a bit. So that is probably not a good sign. You would probably be better off if you took out the ring and let the spot heal up and after it is healed completely then go and get it done correctly. It isnt worth the risk of infection....I wish you luck though:D

Didn't hurt at all? Not even when you wiggled or touched your nose?

Mines sore. Maybe it is infected. But it doesn't look like it at all... It's not even really crusting too much. Doesn't look very red at all... When I don't really move my nose it feels fine, but as soon as I move it it aches a little. I think I'm going to call piercing shops around town and see what they say. Maybe one of them will have a look at it and tell me if everything is okay.

I'm just nervous it's going to leave a bad scar now. It looks totally cute on me though! Maybe it's just because I have sensitive skin to piercings. I can't wear cheap metals in my ear or it gets infected like right away. Even though this is titanium and apparently the best for lack of infection, I might already be prone and get infections easy. Oh, I just don't know.

Man I hope I don't get an ugly scar!

Actually, no, it didnt hurt at all. I didnt even feel it there even when I was cleaning it and everything. I would say though that because of the way you had it done, your nose definatley took more of a beating then if you wouldve done it with a needle...so that may be why it is sore, or it may get infected. Only time will tell with that. But if I were you, I would definatley take it out now. That will cut the risk of infection and maybe even a scar. (with a needle piercing the scar is hardly noticable) It wont take that long to heal up....and then you can have it done right. By the way...what kind of ring did they pierce it with? I am assuming not one of those earrings that usually go in the gun, right? I know it looks really cute and you are excited about it and dont want to take it out...hmmmm....maybe the best thing to do would be to just call one of the tat shops and ask the piercer. He would probably be able to tell you what to do. :sunglasse

She just pierced it with a normal stud. Said that's what she always pierced her nose with.

I called a couple different piercing shops and they said it sounds perfectly normal that my nose is sore. I described how it felt and she said, "Yup, sounds about right." And I said, well, I heard that it's not supposed to hurt after, that just the piercing part hurts and after that it's supposed to feel fine. She's like, "Uhm, no. Of course it's going to hurt after. Don't know where you heard that!"

    Maybe you're just lucky?

I think I'm just nervous. I can't believe I actually went through with it and now I'm having second thoughts. All I can think about is when I decide to take it out is there going to be a scar?? I don't want a scar.

Oh, I'm also nervous that since it's a normal stud the hole is going to be bigger than normal nose ring shafts... Or are nose rings the same size as normal studs?

I've never had any piercings besides my ears and belly button so I'm pretty new to nose piercings but I think they're quite cute. I was wondering, is it just like a belly piercing, where they clamp down one part and shove a needle through it? Any numbing solution or anything? Does it take a long time, and hurt very very very badly while the needle is going through or the jewelry is being put in?

For me they just used a regular piercing gun. Apparently, it's not as good an idea. I'm really thinking I need to take it out. It hurts... not like massive pain, but this dull ache all the time! Not worth it!!! I know it'll go away, but man... I don't think I can wait.

I'm hoping against all hope that I don't scar though.

by getting your nose pierced with a gun, you shatter the cartialdge surrounding the piercing which can cause a permenant mark and may lead to infection as well. In fact in Ontario i know for sure that you can get charged for using guns to pierce noses. You need to be really careful my dear, infections can leave terrible scars.

when i got my nose pierced with a needle, he used a cork on the other side...it took a while to do because i kept laughing a blowing the cork out of my nose! but he used no freezing. I just went to a hot piercing dude, so i was to embarrased to cry! It does hurt though, much more than my tongue! but if taken care of properly, they look so cute!

littlewing, did it hurt after the piercing? I'm deffinatly taking care of it. It's not infected, at least not visibly. But did it hurt you after? Like to flare your nose and stuff? If it did hurt was it pretty bad or very easy to handle?
