Well Older Hippies...I must ask...do you think that the younger generation will ever be able to re-start where you left off...the time in this world is right (politically)...but do you think we have what it takes?
Yes I believe the younger generation has what it takes.I also believe that if and when the govt starts up the draft again, this time including women,we will see the revolution begin.
Oh god yeh!!! Get involved in as many good causes as you can... push the system Check out the protest forum! If us silent majority begin to get vocal and take our views to the streets we could start a significant movement! Love Clairexxx
Not likely. Your even weaker than we were, and we were pretty damn weak. It's unrealistic to expect anyone raised, in a culture of obese materialism, to ever possess the inner strength to overcome our collective fears and insecurities. Even if the Oil taps are turned off, that merely sets us back a hundred years without changing the impulsive desires that got here to begin with.
The Rebellion Of This Generation Is An Internal One. Its A Battle Against Ones Self. You Can Start Anytime.
i think we coulod definately do it. all it takes is a spark to start a fire!!! let me know where and when, im there. its time to make a change, its time for a revolution, its time to put our generation on the map. it's also time to challenge W and his admistration. keep on rockin in the freeworld. Ah,a true classic.Thank you WE1.Phunny,it seems that song(as well as many others)are still very much relevent.
seems that everyone is waiting for 'someone' to organize a revolution - personally, i'm gonna quit my day job and start my one woman march on washington. you can recognize me cuz i'll be the chick carrying her soap box around with her - for all my public rantings
I agree homebudz. Seems like the revolt really took hold back in the 60's, when the kids continued to be drafted and shipped over to Vietnam. Revolution won't start in this country until people are FORCED to fight in a war they don't believe in. Right now, the war is affecting only those who chose to be over there, by way of voluntary enlistments. It's going to take a mandatory draft to stir things up, and I'm sure the Bush folks realize this, that's why they aren't pushing for the draft right now....but maybe they will after November if the bastard is re-elected.
I really do think that's where it's at now. Whether y'all know it consciously or not - somewhere in you, you know that change begins within. Change your thinking, open your heart and you can change the world. It's quieter, less dramatic, not as visible but it's still going on. Lots of people believe there's a shift in energies, in consciousness at this time. I believe any revolution that happens now will come from within many many people and that their beliefs and hopes for peace, a loving world, and world-wide unity will greatly influence the collective consciousness. Of course, were there a draft again - I think, uh, forget the poster's name who brought up this point, but that definitely might create a very visible rebellion!! I have a question for the person posing the original question - do *you* think the younger (high-school, post high school) generation has it in them to band together to try to change this society and culture? I mean, look at WTO in Seattle - I took part in that and while it warmed my heart to see so many people from, clearly, many different walks of life and generations (like old time Labor and Environmentalists) coming together to demand a better world - how many of the most active and how many of the organizers were in their teens and twenties? Many, many!!!
I'm not quite sure....I haven't been out there enough to tell you. Where I'm from, no...we could not. The people of my town are of that "stereotypical American" there are very few that aren't clouded by materialism... I want to see what's out there before I could determine whether or not we could start a revolution for our generation....but for now...I am finding my own inner light... hopefully I can find others who are themselves
