    Yes, I can explain this:

This issue of Superman involves deep, biting and heavily symbolic comments on the existential nature of what it means to be a human being. It deals heavily with the decline of pleasure and the seering "pain of the Self."

The violent and prankish tendencies of humankind drive at the inner core of the fundamental nature of Universal values as they exist independently in the Universe, whether men and women are cognizant of them or not.

There can be no underestimating the devastating importance of the message delivered in this particular issue of Superman.

Hmm, quite the conundrum. It's as hard to explain as this one:

The above issue of Superboy showing and elderly man spanking a jaunty and carefree Superboy is redolent with post-modern angst and a blistering sense of irony, all with a view toward commenting on the ultimate hopelessness of the human condition.

Notice how the others are watching from outside the room. Clearly, this is an attempt to represent the unblinking Eye of God, laughing at and hating his own creation at the same time.

This issue of Superboy is MUST READING -- if you think you can take it.

Excellent question! I suspect you are a person of heightened sensativity. You are tuned into aesthetic nuances, perhaps like few other people are.

Yes, the coins in the ears tell us so very much! They represent a violent spasm of hysterical revelation. It is possible to perceive the symbolic intent of the coins without understanding their emotive force.

To brings things down to their most fundmental dross: The prankster, who really represents the univeral "trickster" archetype, such as the "kokopeli" of the Hopi tribes of in the SW United States, in blissfully blocking yet another futile mode for sensing the universe. Close off the auditory input. Blind mankind to the endless static of nonsense streaming within the infinite light-matrix informational codings of all reality!

Once done, the deafened subject comes closer to realizing: There is no reality!! I am now closer to truth -- and that truth is that there is no truth!

Metaphores, perhaps, samhain, but let's not get stuck there. Think of each frame in a comic book as a kind of cosmic window looking into the soul of "All Intelligence." What is the Universe trying to tell you? In a way, it is "you" talking to "you." So often, we are blined by the Pain of the Self, that we use comics as a simple distraction, but always missing the point. But what is the point to miss? In there "A POINT?" The answer is clearly "no." And the answer is not even "no." There is no answer.
