Does anyone know if St. Al still tripps? Is leary still alive? Does he trip? Ram Das-what about him? The reason I ask is that I was thinking of all the ‘former 60’s hippies’ I know personally—they used to trip A LOT on lsd back in the day & often talk of the great connections with their co-trippers & the spiritual insights etc. anyway, I know about 6-10 such people now in their 50’s & 60’s but none of them do lsd anymore and talk about it with fear almost. You know, the whole ‘oh you gotta be careful with that stuff’ vibe. Some are now alcoholics or just plain stopped evolving. Was it just a temporary salvation? What happened to all the insights they got? Now they’ve become the suburbanites they once despised—hence the alcoholism I guess…but ya know what I mean? Its like all their ‘hip-ness’ is gone. Geesh—when I think of what I’m going to be like in my 60’s and 70’s its f-ing high!
One of the scary things that is always in the back of my head. Many older people that I have met who used to use lsd, speak in this same way:"be careful with that stuff, it really burned me out" they're all scared of it now..But why?
Yeah leary is dead, he sent his ashes into space. I do know that he still tripped when he was old. Aldus Huxley did too, tripped out on his death bed. If I make it to 80 I'll probably still trip and seeing as how I want to be to in control of how I die I will probably find as many psychedelics I can and wander off into the desert while I'm tripping, and meet my maker.
A friend I know said he knew a guy that went tripping with Ken Kesey for a week in like 2004. Leary certainly did. Robert Anton Wilson did. I don't know about Ram Dass? I think he stopped when he become Ram Dass and would just meditate. Terence McKenna though... he certainly did. Oh boy did Mckenna ever. His motto was "higher dosages more frequently". You should really look into McKenna more, he is my favorite of any psychedelic pioneer. He actually thought his brain tumor was from "too much repeated smoked DMT for too many years". McKenna however, did say he wasn't a fan of LSD. Said he did like some 170 trips and then just decided psilocybin and DMT are far better chemicals. I actually do plan to follow McKenna in this notion eventually. As great as LSD is, I do see it as sort of something the gods gave to the western world at a crucial point, you know sort of to say 'remember, wake up'. And that it's more a transitory substance to discover the original ancient entheogens.... But I'm still very inexperienced so that whole idea might change. It seems to me that people who get great fear of LSD. They just like. They refuse to acknowledge the simple fact that the human body can come to encompass a pure and divine spirit in communion with God. And that God is truly always there watching them and can be talked to at any point, however they wish to do it, seperate from any dogmas. Like they refuse to believe in that whole concept of Christ Conciousness they think getting evidence that are you possibly spiritually ascending is a the tell-tale sign of falling into schizophrenic madness and so they jump ship. and of course all the psychadellic music artists still trip... simon posford, raja ram, do they ever. Theres actually an old hippie that runs an exotic herb shop over in my area. Just him, he's owned it for like 20 years, he's probably like 60 or something. He stocks various legal hallucinogens, salvia, san pedro cactus. You can go in there, buy it, he gives you all the info you need to know and advices for it. So yes... certainly there are life long trippers.
salvia...is that anything like LSD? I know its not as intense but...holy shit did I trip balls on that stuff. I can't even explain what happened. I was listening to music. It kind of changed the way I approach composing. Like, now I don't even take credit for the music I write. Now I tend to believe that all music is composed by God (especially the good stuff)
I shouldnt say all music...but all honest music if that makes sense. Modern pop probably not on that list.
i had 40x salvia salvia just like fucked me up for 10 minutes i didnt get anything out of it it was just like hilarious for 10 minutes and i thought i was on a differant level then everyone and was sooo fucked up i physically couldnt smoke acid you actualy get something out of
they are not afraid of acid... they simply respect what a powerful drug LSD is. Old heads had stronger doses back in the day, dosed more frequently and had more time to reflect on the things they have learned from their experieces. If you are curious why LSD can burn you out... go to a music festival this summer. after 4 long days&nights of trippin balls, hiking and partying at a music festival I gaurentee you will be burnt out to say the least.
i wonder why she never asked me about timothy? i wonder why i didn't mention it anyways - for some reason he likes to come up in conversation. i have already done a lot of LSD in my life. at one point i was guessing at around 1500 hits or something but that seems to high for me now looking back. there was a time that i was doing it every weekend for probably two years and it has been a gradual slowing down since then. now we trip once every few months. i am sure there will be times when we trip more often and i am sure we will trip till the end of our lives. i have done more LSD than most who try it, probably around 150 trips taking anywhere from 1-30+ hits at a time and i only have good things to say about LSD. it doesn't matter how much you do or how long you do it, what matters is why you would stop. what were their reasons for saying enough is enough? i am willing to bet that most of them failed to walk the walk. LSD is great for helping people realize many things but most people lack the care in themselves to put what they realize into practice and the LSD becomes a waste of time. what i mean is that if someone keeps doing LSD but they fail to become what the trip wants them to become, eventually they will become very tired. LSD, if used positively will push your life in a positive direction - people who fight to stay the same person they have always been for whatever reason will naturally run into problems with LSD. anyone who has something bad to say about LSD obviously stopped using for the wrong reasons or with the wrong idea of what LSD is. odds are they never truly respected the drug in the first place. what is really unfortunate is that there are a hell of a lot more people who stop using LSD for what ever reason than there are people who respect its use.
That is the best possible explanation! People who stop using it, obviously didn't see the benefit of using it, and you don't see benefit only if you are abusing or misusing it. Another reason can be lack of currage to crash your world again and start from the begining, and by having that attitude, you are actually having nightmares instead "flowting on Heaven" while you trip. Instead of changing yourself to be better person, you grab the attitude "I am 60 and if I don't know what is good, nobody knows" and obviously LSD will show them that, and than they say that LSD fried them. ONE GOLDEN RULE: DON'T EVER BLAME LSD, BLAME YOURSELF, YOU DID THAT TO YOURSELF, NOT LSD!!! When you know that, and feel its completely ok, than you can trip for the rest of all your lifes, not just this one! Many failed that, but many didn't, its up to you!
Ram Dass suffered from a stroke and is in a wheel chair now, trying to regain control over his body. But yea, he's still a spiritual leader, going strong, and has very positive thing's to say about LSD
You are so right!! But it is not only music, everything you do in your life. Whenever you got that "bad" feeling, stop doing that, it is wrong for sure, but if you have that sensational feeling, just keep doing it, it is the God pulling the strings, be his puppet, spread his "words"! Love you all!!
