hi, the tips of my dreads arent formed yet, well some of them almost are but only a few. i kinda want to bleach the tips, can i just use normal hair bleach? and would it help the tips form? i think ill dye them red or something after i bleach them but i wonder how it would look since the tips arent all formed. should i wait till they are formed or can i go ahead and do it now?

any bleaching will result in dry brittler hair
u can use peroxide or lemon juice and a hairdryer to bleach em..dip the tip in either peroxide or lemon juice and blow dry..repeat till desired lightness but dont go overboard or you'll do lotsa dammage

tips fornming well tips either form or they dont its entirely up to them to do what they want..some may never form and thats jiust fine

I bleached my tips and they have given me no trouble. You kind of get a graduated effect as it locks with the unbleached hair.

I don't see the harm in doing it. NEVER bleach your hair too much (whether or not it's dreaded), because bleach can and does do damage. Any amount of bleach will damage your hair, but if you use it correctly, the damage shouldn't be horrible or extreme enough for you to really notice. I mean, your hair shouldn't start unlocking and/or falling out.

I'm considering bleaching my tips and using Manic Panic to color them (since it washes out very quickly, and therefore I can change colors as often as I want to).

im not happy with my bleached hair ='[

i had it bleached, cause i was ganna dye it red and have half red/half black dreads
didnt dye it, so had half blonde/half brown
the blonde was done in two stages - 9% and then 12% peroxide in a proper salon
when it was dreaded, the blonde broke off sooooo much, that side of my hair is now a good 2 inches shorter than the brown side (havent bothered to get it cut to match..)

so last week i got 3 boxes of dark brown dye, permanent,, put 2 boxes on the blonde side and it looked well good. hairs been washed a few times since then, and the feckin dye has all faded out... so im back to silly blonde hair =[

moral of the story is,, dont use lots of bleach. it hurt my head and broke my hair

Personally I have dark brown hair but with the right like you can see shades or red...it more or less glistens dark red in the sun. But as my hair locks up and new growth start and the old dies my dreads are changing colors. The dead hair gives a much more dull red appearance will the new still glistens, shines, but it much darker than the dead hair. There are naturally several tones with my dreads. Perhaps wait it out a little longer and see how your hair will change then decide to dye it. Personally I wouldn't do i because the only way to get it out is to redye it the original color. I don't like dyes, never have, and never will use them.

my hair is really dark the same with the red in it, its always been that way, but i find that if i dye it black after coloring it fades back to the natural color pretty fast.
