No way! I have done it before and will do it again. To me, the best way to enjoy the serenity of nature is alone. Just make sure you pack everything you need.
i do it all the time. but i'd have to say yes its wierd. hiking just isnt as much fun by yourself, and you end up covering too much ground. and i hate cooking just for me, so i end up not cooking usually. it sucks to drink alone too. but like i said i do it all the time, cus i like being out in nature, and no one is as adventerous as me and they never want to go.
Also, make sure you bring a cell phone with you in case you were to get into any trouble along the way.
i'm planning a solo campout once my daughter is weaned. for me it'll be a chance to finally get away without being needed by a million other people, to have a little peace and solitude without my children clamoring for my attention or trying to climb up my legs.
there was a guy I talked to once that was camping next to a rivre in January... this was in Minnesota He would come into the gas station where I worked every once in a while and use the phone or buy a little something to eat.... nice guy
i went camping alone before. i really liked it. i've went to the beach alone before too and liked that as well.
i´m actually thinking of doing it this summer...just get my tent and disappear into the forest for a little while...i´m often alone in nature, there´s hardly anything else that gives me this feeling of solitude and peace i need so much to not go (completely) crazy

I go camping all the time, never have gone by myself, doubt i really would. ( i am toooooooo chicken for that) but, i have seen a lot of people camp by themselves, i met this really trippy guy in Yosemite one year who had traveled by himself camping in fact he even ventured out to climb half dome by himself, i thought that was nuts because its such a fucked hike. anyways hiro, more power to ya girl if you do it, have fun and be safe.
theres a big shindig eastern rainbow thing happering soon in alegany nat for....ive camped in the a.n.f.and it is way beautifull i even went to a rainbow gath there long ago. you could do that for a few days and then just get off by yourself or maby run away with gypsie hippies ....there are threads bout it here in hipfrms!i wanna go to it! .ill look up the state park you mentioned , i expect its more east than alleg. for. its nice in penn .

i'm in new york state, and i'll be trying to find a ride myself for me and the kids, if my friend doesn't get himself fired from his job. tennesee is beautiful. i went through their once by train, and i remember seeing the morning mist settling into the hills out the window. it was so gorgeous, looked like someone had taken a green velvet blanket and gave it a shake.
im lookin on rideboards and stuff ...the mountains all around here are awesom ...the human factor is the terrible disapointment ..i used to live in delaware co upstate
