A man is out camping, seems to me he's minding his own business, and the cops kill him. In Albuquerque NM. http://thefreethoughtproject.com/helmet-cam-footage-shows-cops-murder-man-illegally-camping/ How sweet. And how long until it's one of us?
One of my firendfs called me today to tell me this, as her son lives in NM. I could not believe my ears.....Unbelievably tragic.....what a sin......to have killed this camper....
There's a follow up story. Apparently, after a 3 hour scene, in which the man with a history of violence against police had been threatening to kill the officers, he threatened death to the unarmed officer who had the dog. Here's the story: http://krqe.com/2014/03/21/apd-officer-involved-shooting-was-justified/
but why can't polioce have tazer, or stunning guns instead and then apprehend....? For real now......
This is all the police usually have in New Zealand unless absolutely required to use a gun. I can't see it working in the US, where every Tom,Dick,Harry and nutbar seems to have a gun.
Did anybody actually watch the video or are the reactions idealistic kneejerks? The guy said to the police, "I have the right to kill you right now." It doesn't matter if he was finger painting or being an active communist... You do not say that to a police officer. Based on the footage, he souned either antagonistic or mentally ill. Did he deserve to be shot? Probably not. But one can see how the stress of being a police officer and surplus of adreneline can create these types of situations where people are being reactionary.
"In the private world, if you were down at a bar or a bus stop, I'd have the right to kill you right now. Cause you're trying to take me over. Don't get stupid with me." Yeah... Sounds like an innocent camper...
I didn't hear that. What is so special about that site that the cops MUST remove him at once? I don't think it's right to threaten to kill cops either, however, the man has severe mental health issues. So, instead of helping him get treatment, they kill him. All they had to do is back off, keep about 20 meters away, and follow him down to wherever. I don't care if this guy had knives or machetes or any of that. Even if he had a gun. When you are going to take a man's life, there are always alternatives. Always.
Well, we clearly don't have the whole story but we should have it. Aeri found a good link. Was he mentally ill? What was he doing there, why did they not escort him out? Was he armed? None of these questions currently have answers. Until they do, we can assume by his words that he was not without hostility. That we do know. A death threat/intimidation is hostile. Hopefully the other answers will follow. However at this point he does not sound like just an innocent camper and should not be portrayed as such.
yep - don't be ill (even in a place where you have no access to care or remediation) - displease the overlords and they will execute you
In Fort Collins Colorado Bode Roybal called the police, because he had locked himself out of his own house. When the police showed up, he had some sort of tool that he had been using to break back into his own home. The cops shot and killed him in seconds. Also in Fort Collins Colorado, Matt Warden was drunk in a second story balcony of an apartment. The cops showed up and shot him, killing him. Their excuse was that he had a knife and they were afraid that he might jump and attack them. In America, the cops are not necessarily the good guys.
I remember Colorado. Used to live there. And was arrested once for calling a cop a pig. Well, HE said I called him a pig. I didn't and the location shows it. Anyhow....
Nobody said don't be ill. However people were saying the cops were wrong and sympathizing with the deceased before all the facts were in. Was he armed? Did he have a history of violence? Was he provoking the police? If he was mentally that changes his motives, but not the fact that he was still threatening to the police. People are so quick to judge before they know all or even any of the details. Jesus, is objectivity passe now or something?
What if he was violent? If this homeless person threatened to kill you with a knife and police shot him dead, you would likely be less inclined to care. It's easy to be biased when we aren't involved. I'm not trying to instigate you, I like you and respect your opinions. I just think people are so quick to be biased because of WHO shot the guy. Not caring why.
