Hi, I live in Victoria and am often causing havock in the name of justice with such a small group. It would be nice to meet some local hippies who like to learn, share ideas, and even change a few things about our wonderful (but still in need of a lot of help) city. I'm finding that a lot of people share the same views and want to help the world around them and want to find other people that can help but often we are too quiet to find each other. So here's my call out to you. Peace.
I'm in London, Ontario, right now. Visiting family, waiting for my dad's surgery... Yesterday, I met a really cool guy up in Victoria Park who comes from Vancouver Island. I go there every few years, because I have an older brother, who lives with his family in Vancouver. I love, love, love the island.
Hello! I live in Nanoose Bay. I like to think I made some lasting changes on the Island by showing some of the local youth in Parksville that a life of crime wasn’t cool. Now some of those kids have kids and they keep their kids cool. Now days I just help gardens grow. Cheers!
Hey All Hippies and travelling folk, my Names Pete im 19 and backpacking all over Canada and America. Specifically Vancouver, any good festivals comming up soon? anyone else going to Music fest on vancouver island this year???
I'm up in Comox. For all that are interested, WildResist are planning some sessions this summer on Van Island on civil disobedience, grass roots organizing and other things. I'll try to keep info posted here. Any folks interested in Green Activism should think about going to it.
The Wild Earth folks are having a weekend meeting on June 27-28 out at Jordan River (west of Vic). They have also posted their big annual Rendezvous will be up in Bella Coola Aug 25-31. Here's the link. This is a good one to go to if you are any type of environmental activist. http://wildearth2008.blogspot.com
We're putting together a sweatlodge in Duncan for Rainbow and Native folks. Respond to roadpoet@rock.com or this thread if interested. ~ LOVE you, Black_bird
oh yeah. i'll be at that one, too. Earl Scruggs Band and Bela Fleck are playing. also interested in the sweatlodge in Duncan. please let us know more.
Hey, Gonzo. Peace 'n love, brother. Okay - the sweatlodge. Our tribe of 2- and 4-footed Earthspirits own a 2-acre slice of heaven in the Cowichan Valley. We've spent the past year familiarizing ourselves with the land in preparation for sustainable farming, sheep raising and mystical Nature-worshipping type activities. And things have paid off: we now have five sheep, a good chunk of the land under cultivation and we're prepping for our first harvest of strawbs and salad stuff in a few weeks. (We are also honored to have an eagle living on the property.) Not bad for folks who have to work dayjobs in order to survive! The sweatlodge is a plan to incorporate some southwestern Native stuff I picked up while living down in AZ along with materials available in the natural environment (specifically willows). The plan? Build it and they will come. We're looking at an Earth-embedded traditional sweatlodge powered by fire-heated rocks, supported by a willow structure with an east-facing doorway/flap. The place will be open to those who are respectfully curious as well as experienced hands and worshippers/sweat-freaks of various backgrounds. The local natives have their own way of doing things, but I've only met one guy so far who was open to allowing white folks to participate. My vision is to be a little more inclusive/less structured and just see what happens. Gonzo, thank you for prodding me. I will keep you and any other interested folks informed. E-mail roadpoet@rock.com to be added to the e-mail list. Peace, Black_bird "I'll always be a word-man - better than a bird-man." - The Lizard King
Thank you. I'll check in advance, but would love to stop by while road trippin' the Island this summer. Maybe on my way to Sandcut in August. peace Gonzo
