been wondering...why do we call the people we love, by food names? Like Sweetie Pie, Pumpkin, Muffin, Cookie, etc. ? i call my girlfriend paw paw sometimes (yea silly i know heh!) because its my fav fruit and she is so...sweet and tasty her Dad calls her cupcake. ok. i've been called munchkin. shuush. so what have u called a bf or gf or even a family member and what names have u been called? please share
I call one of my closest galpals "sugarplum" pretty often. and my grandma always used to call me munchkin. But I don't think I've ever used food names for a SO. Sweetie, Bunnypoo (hey, his last name was Bunn, c'mon!), hon, darlin, etc. but not food names very often.
cannibalism - is it true that cannibals don't eat clowns because they taste funny? sugar - sweetness! tater salad hey? mayo comes to mind banana - very appeeling. bunnypoo? lol! kewt...but not edible, no. no. sam? short for sammich? hunny (honey) seems to be what married ppl call each other most. hehehhh! i saw this being used as an avatar on another forum and just had to share it! >
i was just called biscuit by my gf because i gave her ginger cookies with her tea. no, she's not dunked me yet
oh yes, and 'chinese sugar biscuit' is what one ex called me... he got it off of our favorite buffet menu. *lol*
my friend's boy calls her guava. They are pretty damn cute together. And another friend's last name is feejos, so we naturally call her fejoa, but yup.
my mom still calls me baby in german once in awhile and on my birthday cards and I don't think the rest of my family has called me anything besides sugar or lyns in along time. I have come to terms with it by thinking one day I will miss the very names tha annoyed me for so long.
hooray for pet names hmm.. i've called others, or been called, the following.... babe, sweetie, sweetie pie, pumpkin, pumpkin pie, muchkin, bowling ball, hun, hunny, beautiful, sexy, peebody, booger............. and countless others at one time or another that i can't think of now... i don't know the answer to your question, "why do ppl call others by food names?" though... sorry! *shrug* probably b/c we like being cheesy... and corny... hahaha... i think it's funny to call ppl lil pet names.. especially if they actually have some sort of meaning. like the "chinese sugar bisquit" mentioned above...
"my choc chip cookie" is what i call my gf when i'm horny, but she has confided in me it's just the "my" part that makes her yield i really prefer these cool if weird names to "darling" and the tired "love/lovey" or "my boy/girl" and i hate "doll" and "dear/dearest" bowling ball? lol! and what is baby in german? maybe we associate food with nurturing and a sense of well-being so we then feel good about calling ppl we love after that?
