$38 an ounce! Just like it is in Holland where pot is sold legally in coffeeshops....yeah right!

Pot might drop a bit in price, esp. commercial grades.

Top quality will always draw top dollar.

    My prediction?

If legalized I predict prices would drop to around $100 an ounce for crap, $150-200 for mid grade, $200-$300 for top grade. I think quarter ozs will be the most popular purchase at around $50 for good quality.

Those prices don't include the new tax... Which almost puts the price back up to where it is now.

My question is why is this think tank low balling the prices? Looks like they're trying a new scare tactic by saying that consumption would increase dramatically, including illegal sales to out-of-state dealers.

With predicted prices THAT low, why do they think there would be a black market? When ANYONE can grow it, people will get it from their friends who grow. My guess is that for every new person who tries it, another will start growing their own (who didn't b4). So the impact on the retail market should be minimal. Perhaps that's what they mean by a black market, cause it's not going to be the same as it is now, with Mexican drug gangs since the profits won't be there anymore.

    stupid scare tactics.

i dont see how a black market would come from legalization except the trafficking like the article said, but that's other states' business since legalization will only be benefitting CA (and not to mention the trafficking from Mexico would be greatly decreased. it'd be one less thing, but one big profit-maker less.)

the price would definitely not be that low. the price will stay higher mainly cuz there will be the human labor factor in the marijuana making process. imo. well and tax too, but i think after a long time of it being legalized that the tax between cigs and weed will be much different

So you think Marijuana might get cheaper if legalized.
    I already know it won't.
    Don't get me wrong.
I want to see marijuana legal more than anyone.
But if the government has their way it will still be expensive.
    We're already seeing it.
They already require you have medical cards that cost hundreds of dollars to acquire.
If you've already been to any of these legalized Marijuana coffee shops.
It's a joke the prices you have to pay for just a small bud of some fancy named weed.
Its more than what you pay for a ounce of the same quality of weed you'd get on the streets..
We can only hope they don't restrict us from being able to grow our own.
But they probably will cause it will cut into their profits and those selling it in the stores.
When dealing with Capitalist and the government.
You can bet the consumer always gets the raw deal.

Would anyone really still be buying if legalized, at least outside the initial price of one's first cluster of clones?

Or perhaps they're saying prices will be that low so that those who already make a living off selling marijuana won't show up to vote because they won't be able to compete with those prices and will be out of business. Thus making it so that the bill doesn't pass and it looks like it was the fault of marijuana users and supporters, making the government look like the good guys who actually tried.

i agree with skip about the prices. i seriously doubt they'll drop much if legalised. california is way too expensive of a state to live in for that.

I think the concern about people coming to Cali to stock up and go sell it elsewhere is a legit concern.

There would have to be some way to regulate that kind of stuff, but I'm not in charge so don't ask me lol

I wonder though, say you vacation to California and smoke some, then return to your home state and you fail a drug test. What happens? Do you just say hey I was in California! I'm guessing that your state wouldn't care where you were really.

    Does that make sense?
