I heard if you take apart a DSL filter then you can make it into a cable descrambler... Is this true? I doubt it, but I'm looking for someone who has actually tried it... I don't wanna break apart a filter to find out it doesn't work.
Why would you need a cable descrambler? Here is a little clip of info that I read from an info site about this: http://www.hightechproductions.com/descramblers.htm I think it might be illegal to reverse engineer a closed device like that. It technically belongs to the cable company. So you would be destroying their property.
Cable is all digital now. Each box has an electronic ID. The boys down at the cable office can probably tell remotely if you're getting something thats not being paid for. Same for hacking cable modems to increase the speed or descrambling satellite signals. Back in the old days, all I had to do was pry the contacts apart where they touched the channel rotor. Those days are gone forever. x
