This is a good tip for this summer. There's a novel called Sewerside Chronicles written by Tim Lay. Not sure when it's out exactly but I've read an advance proof and its hilarious.

Allen Ginsberg's "Howl" is my favorite to read stoned, especially with classical or jazz music playing in the background. It makes for a very nice way to spend an hour or two.

Also anything by William Butler Yeats, he has such beautiful diction. My favorite poem is "The Stolen Child"

So these are poetry more than books...but poetry is more fun to read high than books, in my opinion. I usually get sidetracked reading books, but reading poetry I want to crawl into it.

Reading stoned? Only when it wears off, otherwise I have to read the same page all the time.. :D
But if so, I prefer some good fantasy I suppose, like Katherine Kerr or Robin Hobb.

Wow to you guys who can read Siddartha and Finnegans Wake stoned, all a bit much for me when in that headspace.

The Illuminatus! Trilogy can make more sense when stoned but reading it can make you feel stoned even when straight. Then it ties into the whole thing of Weishuapt partaking of the hemp and becoming illuminated and suddenly bits make you go 'aha!' but you don't know whether that's you being high and coming to the wrong conclusions, being high and coming to the right ones, whether you would have got there anyway, whether you're being silly and stoned and reading too far into things or whether you're being deceived- either by the book or by yourself.

I really enjoyed that tome - a great read!

Some excellent stoned reading in my opinion is anything written by Tom Robbins......Jitterbug Perfume is my favourite, but Another Roadside Attraction is the one i'd recommend to start with

every other year or so i'll read his entire works in order - it really can change one's perspective in a most groovy and upbeat way :)

Oh, and Tom Robbins for sure, he is a mindtrip. "Even Cowgirls get the Blues" and "Jitterbug Perfume" are a few recommendations.

I can't focus enough to read if I am stoned, assuming stoned means Cannabis. However, I like to read on amphetamines (Vyvanse, Adderall), especially science and math textbooks. In fact, reading about how drugs work (pharmacology) is one of my favorite speeding activities.
