I've already got a '91 Firebird GTA but after I buy an economy car I'll be selling it to move my 5.0L V8 to a 5.7L.

If I could afford the Supra Twin-Turbo or an Evo I would get that but it's a little out of my price range. I'd only be able to afford a fully stock Supra but if I get the Type-R I'd slap on a body kit, rims, seats, and drop in a system with subs immediately.

My other option would be to get an Integra GS-R instead of the Type-R which would let me do all of the work I mentioned plus lambo doors and I could start replacing the cams, headers, exhaust, add an intake, etc.

I'm leaning toward an Integra with a body kit something like this:

Or if I go with horizontal style lights something like this:

I could push my budget to $20k but I'm not trying to spend too much, I already have two other cars and just want something I can build up but still be great on gas. I'll probably just buy a GS-R and build it up to 275hp or so.

^ for under 20k the ITR, although like I said before the B18C5 is a highly overrated engine imo

for under 20k i wouldnt even be looking at supra's unless your getting a non-mkiv [in other words pre-92]

I'm done with the import tuning scene, I got into it way back like mid-90's when it was evolvining and still somewhat interesting, now with people tuning things like Fit's and other "mini-van" type cars, the scene has degenerated wayy to gay for me, sometimes I feel like a ricer driving my TL even when i see other kids driving mommy's TL with ugly rims they slapped on it lol

I found a few mid-late 90's Supra's for around $20k but they are relatively few in number. But yeah I feel ya, I was in my friends '03 Mustang GT when he lost to a Fit... T'was a sad day indeed. I've always been more interested in muscle than rice and just bought that Firebird with the intentions of fixing it up, but the more I look into it the more expensive and time consuming it's looking. After looking at some imports they just seem a lot easier to work on and much more reliable, not to mention twice as good gas mileage.

Yeah, that's a little much for me I was just using an exaggerated picture. I'd probably go with something more like this:

    pretty much these days..

any person who argues against "there's no replacement for displacement" is an idiot but there definatly are some fast imports out there and people who know what they're doing, i knew more than a couple and my car had alot of hands on it over it's build

the scene has just become to "gay" for me, i unno :S

if you could find a good one, id go for a nissan
maybe fairlady or an sx and supe that up
evo would be a sweet choice but ive just always liked the earlier evos so
it really just depends on taste
i used to love supras but they are a little over priced especially for the twin turbos

I dunno Im not really into tuning cars, I cant afford it lol. But I have alot of friends who tune their cars and they are incredibly nice. Not to toot my own horn but I hang around with the kind of people who do up imports the right way. Nothing too ricey and their cars performance can back up their looks. I have a buddy who ran a 13.3 in his 07 WRX with the Stock Turbo in the quarter mile. Hes also going to be featured in HCI magazine in the near future with his WRX. I have another buddy who had an 06 EVO MR with a GT35R turbo swap that he sold because the car scared him. But the person he sold it to ran a 10.9 in the 1/4. All of these cars are daily driven as well so there are def some fast imports out there. Theres a few civics in my area running 10's as well.

I honestly think the whole Import Vs Domestic thing gets less and less tense as you move higher up in the ranks of the tuning world. I know my friends have no beef with people who drive a fast Domestic they follow the to each his own motto. And the only time Ive really seen an arguement between import and domestic that was actually of malicious intent was at the drag strip last season. There was a kid with a newer model buick of some sort (Not even really a true domestic in my mind) with a nice big "Fuck Your Import" sticker on the back bumper. After he realized he was staged to be racing my buddy with the WRX he walks up to him points at his car and says "Do you drive this slow P.O.S?" My buddy goes Yeah but I dont think its too slow. You know just a playful comment. Then the kid was like "I bet I put 5 lenghts on that thing." My buddy flat out asked if he was just joking around or if he was being serious. Turns out he was being dead serious and come race time the kid with the Buick ran a 14.2 at 91mph and the WRX ran a 13.5 at 98mph.

Sorry for rambling Im sick with something very similar to the flu right now.

A car is a car, it all depends on what's been done to the car and who's driving it. And the kind of car depends on what kind of looks and power you want out of your vehicle. Our Mustang could do just as much as most ricers, but you put a bad driver in a muscle car OR a ricer and of course they can't do shit.

sounds like your friends are the respectable type of tuners, haha and i guess "not to toot my own horn" but my car when i had it ran a 13.2 without any dyno tuning, i promptly sold it to a buddy who is now running 10.8 with the same car tuned and some more money dumped into it, I just couldnt bring myself to dump anymore money into it

posted it before, but here's the "money pit"

Very nice its tasteful and well built.
Heres my buddies WRX. I am personally in love with this car, but Ive always been a bit of a suby fan. Hes got a GT30 turbo sitting in his room waiting to get installed when he has money for a stronger transmission. He was tuned at Moon Performance in Lake Placid NY and made around 270 awhp and 314 lb/ft of torque but they backed the tune off to 300 lb/ft to make sure he didnt drop his transmission launching.

As for me I drive a bone stock 2002 dodge neon lol. I ran a 16.5 at 83mph on all season tires woot lol. I was bored one night and went to the track with some friends for shits and giggles. Upon further review apparently a 16.5 is pretty good since car and driver only got the car to run a 16.7 brand new.
