well i got a bus last november and ... well shes been great. i planned to have her forever, or at least get her back to california where she was sold in 1969. but. its looking like she wont make it!!!! or thats what im thinking. these last 2 weeks i have driven her every day and just this last wednesday (today is sat.) i noticed a rumble that was lower than the normal engine noise. i checked the oil to make sure there wasnt a leak. the oil is getting dirty, so i will change it this next week. but ... what else should i check? the rumble starts out slow around 40mph and steadily increases its repitition .... its crazy and about bugs. i was wondering which year bug is the best for its money??? i would love to get an older bug, but im not sure what year would be the best to get. .... any comments would be nice peace
It could be just because it's older. I wouldn't take a bus across country, too freaking expensive on gas! Also, if you plan on buying an older bug(they are cute, but quite expensive) be sure you don't plan on driving it around in the winter all that much. The engine is in the back with bugs, and it could get pretty chilly driving down the highway...
Whatever it is you should really take it to a shop to get looked at. If it's a problem with the engine maybe they can fix it or replace (if ever needed) it for you. And I heavily disagree with Sunnie. I do agree if it's a bus or bug in bad condition, but there are a lot of buses and bugs still in good condition, that I would drive cross country if I owned it.
