I was reading the paper and there was another story about it, and I felt that I needed to vent.

As you all may or may not know, Bush has admitted to trying weed while having a private conversation with his friend at the time, Douglas Wead who was secretley taping the conversations to help him write a book and because he feels Bush is going to be a big figure in history.

He didn't even flat out say he tried pot, but it is implied... but suddenly everyone is going crazy! "HE ADMITTED TO TRYING MARIJUANA!!"

I'm very anti-Bush, but I have to say that this is just stupid. Who cares if he tried weed? Most people have at least tried it. Plus, everyone knows that he was a coke head in high school, so who cares about pot?

    What's the big deal??

Very true, these are just smokescreen stories that are corporate friendly for the mainstream media to report, so they can sway you from hearing about the real issues.

    Peace and Love,

I don't think it's a big deal. I don't really have a problem with people trying weed, but as someone already said, hypocrisy is the issue here.

Bush plays off his own drug use as "youthful indiscretions," but he wants to deny college loans or just imprison drug offenders, rather than allowing them the same leeway that the press allows him.

How can a nation imprison its citizens for something the president admitted to doing?

Not much of a big deal in my mind. Just typical American hypocrisy.

Why don't you just mock it like you mock everything else you're uninformed about. Idiot.

Bush sets a good example of why NOT to do drugs.

I don't know about that. He is, after all, one of the most powerful and influential people on the face of the earth. I don't think that anyone can say that he hasn't done anything with his life.

Well, that depends on who you ask. So yes, there are people who would say he has done good things with his life, I'm sure PR can list them by the bucketfull.

"I'm very anti-Bush, but I have to say that this is just stupid. Who cares if he tried weed? Most people have at least tried it. Plus, everyone knows that he was a coke head in high school, so who cares about pot?"

I think the point is how dare he perpetuate the idea that we must have a war on drugs when he did it himself? The point is he's a hypocrite. The point is even he tried it (plus haven't all the presidents tried it?) so why is it still illegal?

I hardly think that asking him to clarify what he meant by "prison industry" amounts to mocking it. Prisons aren't really an industry in the normal sense of the word; they're more like an arm of the state and federal governments, and don't make any profit (at least in theory). I merely wanted to know what he meant, as "prison industry" is not a phrase you hear that often.

Why do you get so defensive about everything, Pressed Rat? Are you really that terrified of an open discourse?

'Prisons' may not be a customary Industry themselves but they have spawned/created a need for numerous 'For Profit' Industries...

Maybe what he was admitting to was having "tried WEAD." Maybe he was saying that he'd sucked off his friend Douglas while Douglas was sleeping. So in this telephone conversation, he was admitting to him that he'd "tried smoking Wead." :p

I guess you liberals can't hate Bush as much as you thought, since now he's a pothead just like you!

At least unlike that pussy shitbag Clinton, he's not claiming, "Uh, yeah, well, uh, I uh, didn't INHALE."

LMFAO! Did that fuckin' asshole think that a single motherfuckin' person in the WORLD would fail to think of that as the most asinine claim ever made?!

That just proved how little Clinton thought of anyone but himself. "I'll just make this totally phony, worthless lie -- I won't even make a believable claim, 'cause who gives a flying fuck what these people think anyway?"
