Im in pain. Never growing up did I get sunburn, and much of my time was spent outdoors in summer, often on the beaches of Brittany which can get pretty warm. I just have one of those skin types that doesnt burn and doesnt tan in the sun... Yet today for the first time ever Im bright red and hurting, and all I did was go to the shops and spend about 15 minutes on the lawn in the parc, all covered quite well and with a hat on Are you worried about this? Do you now wear suncream at the first hint of sunshine, and is it usual that we should have to here in the UK just to spend half an hour outdoors? (I never used suncream as a kid, and I admit I hate using it now, although yes, I will from now on) Did you get burnt today? Ow
i didn't get burnt today, but im hella tanned from the last few weekends. i wear sun tan lotion at the start of the summer, but once i build up a tan i don't bother so much. ive never burnt, been a bit red once but it cooled off over night and was fine. i love being out in the sun though. ive been out all day today till i came in to make tea. it's physically impossible for me to sit indoors if the suns shining, it feels wrong.
My Irish-Spanish ancestry means I can spend hours in the sun, but still remain a pasty white colour. I also drink a lot and pull all the chicks.
I never wear suncream in Britain, it seems.. odd. I occasionally get a bit of sunburn, but fuck it. On holiday of course, it's different, I'd get skin cancer if I didn't slap some on
I don't use sunscreen now. Perhaps my mum slapped it on me as a kid. But now I never do. I have tanned skin anyhoo 365/24/7. So I am naturally protected to a degree (pardon the pun). It is perfectly natural that if it is sunny and your skin reacts you should protect your skin...here there anywhere. It isn't the first time we have had sun here last time I checked the history books and my window. It doesn't take mediteranian strengh sun radiation to screw your skin. I didn't get burnt yesterday. I don't forsee getting burnt today. Fingers crossed.
Yet it is the first time Ive ever been burnt and I wasnt even out in the sun too long. Ive been to Cuba and barely worn suncream and not got burnt, never wore it as a kid and have never been burned before...that was my point. So infact my realisation that this isnt the first time weve had sunshine here was included in my original reason for posting...
I know, it feels odd to me too. It didnt seem like anyone did it when I was little but now everyones got half a bottle on. Maybe I just didnt notice it before
It seemed like you were saying that something peculiar was occuring yesterday and we may possibly have something to worry about. Like the sun was giving off odd rays. We should not have to wear sunscreen here or something. Imo, we tend to use it more now because we are more aware or more paranoid, possibly both...but, imo, nothing has altered only us.
No I never said any of that stuff, I was just wondering if anyone else was getting burned more now and how they deal with these especially hot days, and if they usually/have always worn suncream in Britain and if they see that as the norm I was curious about why I and a few others I know have suddenly begun burning when we never did before, but I wasnt implying anything in particular I dont think
Sorry. I was probably reading WAY too much into your post. I did think you were implying something had changed recently. Climate change blah blah blah. I think we started wearing sunscreen in this country when sunscreen was invented...over 60 years ago. But, i'm not going to go check the weather patterns over the last 60 years, to see if our weather has altered significantly or in strengh.
What I meant was are people worried about burning in the sun...if I had meant it your way though I dont see what the big deal is. "Climate change blah blah" is infact a genuine problem, as confirmed by everyone with a brain And Im glad you wont be checking the weather patterns, as no-one asked you or expects you to You sound a bit narky and Im not entirely sure why Mr odon Have a pigiggy: Youve given your personal answer to my questions, so thanks
Like I said, I probably read too much into it. It sounded like you were saying: Are you worried about the fact that we maybe getting burnt in this country, like it was something new...due to the sun being different. Lots of people have been burnt this year, last year, 60 years ago. Thanks for clearing up my confusion. I know climate change is a problem...I was merely pointing at that for a rationale behind this being different. I was thinking climate change had given us the wrong type of sun or something. I thought you were getting a little apocalyptical...but now I appreciate you're just asking if we are worried about being burnt. I was being sarcastic. I didn't wish to be narky. That wasn't how I was feeling. I just didn't add enough warmth to my posts, perhaps. I was just asking a few questions...tis all.
Well, thanks for the explanation...Just thought Id say, I dont think the rolling eyes smiles are helping. Most people I know dont roll their eyes at me when theyre being friendly Is that just your thinking face?
It's meant to mean I'm not being serious. warmth...heat...sun. *gets coat* I don't like the look of . Probably that one would have been a better one to use though.
