He was amazing. I love his voice, his style, his music. Truly a one of a kind musician and such a tragic loss to the world.
I have similar sentiments about, for instance, Otis Redding. But then I think, what if they'd lived and everything else they'd done was dross - or at least mediochre ? Would we still remember them so fondly ? Would they rather be dead legends or alive has-beens ?
That's true. I think about that too sometimes. I think that, yes they had enormous talent, but their death does add to their greatness in a sense.

I have been a die hard Buddy fan since i was a little girl. Some kids watched cartoons over and over, I watched the buddy holly story. At an age young enough that i couldnt read, and didn't know he died. They dont show that in the movie. Just post text on the screen. One day I told my mom i wanted to see him when i got older. She told me he died. I sobbed! I was worried about Maria and the baby. It's a funny childhood story.

Yes, I remember the 3-minute restriction that the Radio (bar the Pirate) channels used to have stick to - (and some still do!) I still have American Pie on 45 vinyl (Part 1 (A-Side) and Part 2 (B-Side)( which was near as much ... inconvenient
Recently met a women who grew up in Clear Lake Iowa....and her father owned the farm the plane went down.
