To own a personal 'ego', an 'individual awareness', or an 'identity', is to own pain.

    let me explain.

the universe is a large entity. and it is somewhat aware of itself. we know this because we are aware of ourselves -- and we are small parts of the universe. (we aren't placed IN the universe, we help make it up, we are part of it's design, we are not foreign to it, so we are small sections of it).
we are a way for the universe to experience itself.

so here we are, small increments of the universe's experience. and interestingly enough, we interact with each other. we say hello and have a connection or we distance from each other because of disagreement.
"I don't relate to your experience/awareness, so I want to be further from you." emotionally or physically, but all these varied interpretations of distance are metaphorical in the grand scheme of things. our distance (physical, emotional, or any other perceivable distance that is comprehensible) equates to the 'whole' of the universe being subdivided, and individuality sprouts because of small parts wanting to have an individual experience which is seperate from the whole, or seperate from the universal experience (the single conciousness).

the entire process of seperating from the 'whole' into indiviuality creates a certain pain. because the universe's fundamental state of being is no longer true and it has become segregated, this creates an unsettling of the universe. one could say it is fragmented and ill. that society is an affliction or some kind of disorder, and that it's current state differs greatly from what it was originally.

to sum it up, the universe is a shattered mirror and it's child processes are unaccepting of each other and it is no longer unionized.

perhaps the day will come where everything goes back to how it was. until then, everything is a big shit hole and a huge struggle in all directions, and we won't find the balance that we strive for as long as we are perceiving/experiencing individually in this plane.

the only cure is when time ends. time is man-made and perpetuated by our egos to keep ourselves rooted as individual identities who can interact with each other. if time didn't exist, we would all be one.

as a species we need to stop recording time, become less individually-conscious and aware, and return back to our fundamental state where everything is whole and time is non-existent.

I wrote this in 2 minutes, could of been written a lot more eloquently. but this is the general idea.

The issue for the love of self is still: is the ego still a "pain" worthy of baring; there is the "blowing out" of the Ego to the higher state from Kharma; so we don't go on thinking in retrospect the events of the ego and it's performance? Truly there is something just the same for values in the cycles of the Universe, opposite to opposite, positive to negative, physically hot to cold.

Does therefore the universe empty itself of the ego as much as we of it's performance? I don't know.

The system never doesn't anything that does not profit the system. Individuality helps the system to evolve, nothing is broken, all as going as clockwork.

I can buy that. But not everyone here could believe that Kharma is not a proposal with the addition of social financial remedies. That way the sequential experience of the system for the Ego is not in need of consolation of individual judgments by an external "egoism".;)

    Dear master,

I do wish to depart from the social financial remedies and follow the path of "anybody's" true social Kharma. The Ego is anybody's. I must request doubt at this point. Is that the truth? For instance if someone is profoundly considered to be attached to the kharma but by his own arguments claims no such justification for his Bad Stress. He manages his personal affaires with the morality of even blasphemy over the systems, explains the evolution through the behaviour of lying profits. But the luck may smile on him from the external sort of Project of pluralistic plutochratic cheating. Then what. He suffers but often the lucky days of the good market bring him charm explained by magic. LOL

Checking the I Ching, it is expected that much . Wherever I go the people may speak derisively of me. The Ming hexagram with the difficulty of the position and to maintain firm correctness. The future shall go into the Earth, as there is no light and only obscurity.

    ^ nice summary.

The OP is in error when stating that small parts contributing to a whole system causes 'pain'.
Methinks the OP is projecting pre-existing social dis-affection.

we are all ocean waves heading to the shore. If we focus on the individual occurrence of a specific wave in time then there is nothing but pain thinking about the inevitable destruction when we meet land, but if we focus on the drops of water we are then we are immortal. The self is an illusion, painful and dangerous.

i disagree that owning an ego is pain.... its just separate, and i suppose it doe seem kinda silly when we avoid each other seeing as we are all one!

Individuality is a unique expression of the universe, like your fingerprint on your hand. But the false ego is idea that this individual is separate and independent from the whole.

that's a cool way to put it. or, in Paganism or Wicca i've heard, that deities are sometimes seen as different facets of a greater diamond... we are all facets of divinity!

great read! I love the first part. "we are a way for the universe to experience itself" :)
I never thought of it like that... but its true!! Do you think that there is a collective consciousness that experiences all the other consciousnesses together? Godhead?

I think the problem is with the Illusion of the ego and the thought that we are separate from the others.
The illusion of the ego is something that can be blasted apart but because the world has a dual side and everything comes in pairs, I think it would just cause the opposite and throw you into super ego states. What ppl should do is to "go around" the ego. Dont kill it, dont reinforce it.. just leave it alone and ignore it.

We are as gophers. As lions. As serpents. As apes. As fish. We have arrived. We will go. We consume what we must. We excrete what we must. We kill. We love. We agree. We disagree. Wonder how the stock market is doing today.

inside and outside are one - if you expand sense of wholeness within then the outside does nothing to stop it

this notion has been explored by many and a number of analogies have been previously drawn

adam and eves expulsion from the garden
from eating from tree of knowledge
the symmetry breaking of quantum supersymmetry analogies
    and so on

your thinking may be pertinent to Buddhism but doesn't sum it up

Ego is a thought. Pain is a thought. Time is a thought. Reality shines a light on them and they vanish.

The sensation of the inside and the outside being one is an indication wakefulness, but in reality this is always the case.

Just as our physical existence is part of the universe, and not just "in" the universe, so too our mental egos are part of the universe. Our perceived separation and pain is as much a part of the cosmos as a galaxy. There is no fragmentation.

I agree with this. The greater the ego , the more the sense of separation from the whole. The ego is intensified by incessant thinking and craving, mainly for begetting more pleasures fuelled by memory of experience.

But every pleasure has a satiation limit, so the ego strives on seeking to find a permanent happiness in new external pleasures, which is but an illusion. The body too becomes incapable on enjoying sense-pleasures in the long run due to increasing age, and deterioration.

Hence the nature of ego is pain and suffering, on account of its sense of separation from the whole , and the impermanence of objective sense-pleasures .

As Metta Zetty puts it, " Suffering is the ultimate challenge to a narrow and limited sense of identity. It provides an invaluable opportunity for each of us to discover that we are more than the body, mind and emotions with which we tend to identify. "
