My brother dropped my banjo very hard and broke it's neck. I had to bring myself not to rip his face off. Does anyone know where I can buy replacement necks...good sites? Thanks for any help.
i would say bringing it into the music shop is the best bet, it might not even be worth putting money in tofix, in which case just carve your own neck out of some wood you have laying around
Well, it's not a good banjo...a washburn. It's my first one though and I kinda want one to have around to play and practice on. I'm thinking about putting money into a better banjo. I may save up some money and get a gibson or something. What other brands do you recommend? I've thought about getting a Deering.
I found a site with blank necks for about 75 bucks, but I'd have to put my own frets on, put a finish on it, carve out the headstock and put the tuning pegs on...don't feel like doing all that and I'm highly likely to fuck it up.
ahh leave the frest off and you got a good ole sliding banjo i have a washeburn b8,(there cheapests) and with a bit of work ive turned it into a decent sounding machine go to www.banjohangout.com they have rewvies and a nice forums section they could do better giving you spsific product info
Well first take that resonator off, its not worth a damn, and take the mounts off too or the banjo may dig into your leg FYI; if you hold the open back against your body it acts kinda like a resonator Then make sure the bridge is in the right place, keep adjusting it till you find the sweet spot and get the 5th string to stop being so loud Also if your 5th string keeps slipping like mine did, just tighten the screw Then give all the brakets a little tighting, first try to get them to the point were they all resists them same then in order give a 1/4 or 1/2 turn on each one everyday till the head tightents up and give you a little more sound and that about dose it Yes its a rather cheap banjo but i think it dose good and dose what i need it to do
go to a music shop, i have got a problem with my banjo neck also, i just delivered to them and a week later they fixed it and it was good again
