Sorry if this is in the wrong forum, I've scowered Hip to find a cooking forum but to no avail.

I want to make pasta sauces as gifts to people. I thought it'd be a nice inexpensive gift to family etc seeing as we're broke and have nothing in return to give back. I've made fresh pasta sauces tons of times but they always get used a day or two after making them.

If I were to make sauces as gifts in non air tight containers (such as used pasta sauce jars, obv sterillised) how quickly would it go off? A week? A month?

    Many thanks

Not that long, you'd have to keep them refrigerated/frozen also. I say make it with air tight containers. There are websites for people who jar preserves and stuff that show you how to make a container air tight.
