pronounced as accentuated. what the hell is this, this, monstrosity!? i saw it for the first time in the store today, i had picked up one head of broccolli, one head of couliflower, and then over to the side my eye caught in separate bits the brocco and flower and i just had like, a little mental meltdown. is it good? has it been around long? have i been in the closet of genetically fucked up the ass vegetables? this just wasnt meant to be, same as the "grapefruit orange" it looks like elephantitus of fruit. fruit just shouldnt be that big, hands down
is that the one that is half broccolli and half cauliflower? it's actually quite nice. The best 'new' version of those veggies is broccollini though - so good in a salad.
I really rather like broccoflower. It tastes more like cauliflower when it's raw and more like broccoli when cooked and it has a nice color. It's a hybrid, not a GMO, so no worries about frankenfood. Unfortunately I don't think you can get it organic, at least not where I live.
It was developed in California by Rudolf Boysen. It is thought to be a cross between blackberry,raspberry and loganberry.

You want the plants or just the fruit? I am more of an expert with growing vegies than perenials.Where I live, it less than ideal for growing most berries as they really do better in a temperate climate than the mediterranean where I live. Anyway you can only cross pollinate within the same family.I have never gone in fo artificial pollination I usually just let the bees do thier work , but the way it is usually done is to grow the plants in total isolation. When the flowers appear a small paint brush is applied to the flowers of the plants to be cross bred.The seeds out of the resulting fruits give the new hybrid.
