Brits banned from coffeeshops!

Wtf is going on, this is such discrimination!

I read that in the Sun earlier.

Be interesting to see how many coffee shops (mainly the ones in the centre) can afford to stay open if all brits were banned, especially in the summer months when I bet over 50% (maybe an exageration but I bet im not far off) of trade comes from us brits...

 

I've read this everywhere this morning in numerous
other forums too. This has been going on for ages
and imo, is nothing to worry about, afterall it is the
Sun newspaper, which I wouldn't touch with a barge
pole anyway. It's all media hype and in practice could
not work, it would drive it all underground again which
is how it all started in the first place.
I bet you nothing changes, just as before, infact how
long as this argument been going on.

The Sun article is total bullshit!

There was a proposal dealing with banning non Dutch from buying in coffeeshops in the Maastricht area ( due to the fact that there are millions of Germans and Belgians within a hours drive). But this was proposed many months ago and no action has been taken.

Remember that marijuana & hash are not legal even for the Dutch, only tolerated. A new government in the Netherlands could decide in the future to change the rules on coffeeshops. But not in the forseeable future.

There has been talk that banning non Dutch from coffeeshops would be against EU regulations.
