I have a question for those of you who've ever lived in this particular province. I have friends who have gone kayaking professionally in B.C., and others who live there and the one's who live there tell me pot is not legal there (obviously, that's true) but that you can pretty much do it anywhere without regard to being incognito, is this true? If not, what is the current status of the law's leniency?

Another question pertains to the general views of Canadians. The fact stands firm that I greatly dislike most of the Americans with whom I've come into contact, and I am considering moving to Canada. I've visited B.C. a few times but for very small periods, not nearly enough time to get a good impression of the over-all view of the people there. I'm told by the same sources that the people are less judgemental (atleast in this province) and are much more lax, especially with political and religious views. Is this true?

I have gotten tired of the bible thumping, "holier than thou" moral views of Americans. I get a lot of flack when I talk about moving to Canada, mainly by the same people with whom I have a problem. Their argument is generally along the lines of "Canada wouldn't be anything without America, they're America's bottom-feeder. Just go if you want to live in the Tundra, don't complain to me about it!", heh, this being said after person X has just jumped into my conversation without me asking, ofcourse! Exactly what does Canada being one of America's top trade coutries have anything to do with me wanting to live there? I guess I missed that part. "If you don't like America, get out! Don't tread on me! Where's my Ford truck?" ... oops! I just went off on a tangent here, I suppose. My question in a nutshell is just if the Marijuana laws are lenient, if the people are more lax and laid back and if it's worth living in.
    Much love

I haven't lived there in years but the happiest I have even been was living in BC. The Okanogan (sp) Valley (ie: Creston, Nelson, Trail and by Kootney Lake) is so cool and laid back. My friends Dad grew weed in his fields for years and years and no one ever said anything to him and it isn't like he hid the plants either anyone driving by (half way up a mountain so not many drive by) could see them. If things haven't changed too much it is a pretty open minded group of people that live there lots of hippie style people around where I lived (Creston) and more around the lake. Good Luck I would love to be able to move back there right now and would if I could.

People are really laid back in B.C. And alot are very spiritual, not fundementalists but open to free thought. I believe the land is very spiritual and gives off a positive aura which infects the habitants.

Yeah, B.C. is quite relaxed on the whole subject of holding shit. Most of the time they'll just make you get rid of whatever you've got. Not that I have much experience on the matter.

Takemenow, you have gotten a lot of attention for that pic in your sig, lol. Well, i suppose it is a pretty kick ass pic...

k, i'ma give you all a lesson on BC. I currently live in Surrey BC (not a poor or shit hole part of it like ppl picture) but an upper class neighrbor hood in surrey, i'm about 30 minute drive to get to the heart of downtown, and from what i've seen in places i've travelled to around the world, BC is my favorite.

    1. In BC, pot is not legal but "decriminalized" which means anyone posessing under 10 grams cannot be charged, and are almost NEVER gaven a fine.

    2. If u ARE carying over 10 grams and are caught, it's a 98$ ticket.

    3. YOU NEVER GET CAUGHT, repedatley i've drivin through the bussiest streets of downtown in a convertable smoking joints to our heads, PEOPLE THINKG NOTHING OF IT!

    4. As of 4 months ago, a Store called "Dakine" on comercial drive began selling weed, not weed imiation, not "seeds" not spore, WEED, and it's the most killer i've ever smoked, u walk in and see fucking 40-50 year old people sitting in the smoking room smoking joints, and not crack heads, like buisness men in high end suits. They have a menu which follows:

1 Gram, Choose from 8 different kinds of bud : 10$

1/8th's quarters and up to ounces are priced acordingly

Bubble Hash, and Blonde Hash : 15$ a gram

"Budder" - a dakine creation which is like blonde oil made without iso, : 5$ a hoot, and the one hoot is probably the equivalent of a Oil hood, but without the inasne harshness.

Basically Weed is legal in BC, Personally i think it's the best place in the world to live for freedoms and just the area, in 2 hours u can go from bascially the best skiing/snowboarding mountain in the world, to a beach where the water and sand resemble hawaii.

I've been wanting to move there for 2 years now. Never actually been there tho. I've been on the east side of the US for almost my whole life and it sux. Weed's mostly shitty, good stuff is expensive. I could definitely go for nicer people, better weed

I visited Vancouver for a week this summer. It was my favorite vacation [IMG] I saw people smoking in the streets without even thinking twice about it. There are a lot of hippies too! Most people there are friendly and very relaxed. I went to some island (can't remember the name of it) but we had to take a ferry there..Victoria Island I think? Anyways, it had a bunch of small shops set up on the road. Lots of them were selling pipes or marijuana-related stuff and the rest were selling hippy jewely and hip stuff. Anyways I want to move there! I just need to find a college there and pick a major (I'm thinking about sociology, anyone have any advice? know any colleges in Vancouver that would be good to major in sociology in?) I want a relaxed school though..I wanna party a lot [IMG] Housing is extremely expensive thuogh..we were looking through house ads .. our house would be worth so much up there! (its an average-priced house here). Anyone have any advice about moving to Vancouver? (I'm almost 17 and I wanna prepare for my future..my parents aren't too keen on the idea of me moving to Canada after high school, but I think if I could find some decent priced housing and prepare for it they might like the idea)

Sorry about posting this huge reply but I'm stoned and just didn't want to stop typing.

the best bet for ppl who want to move here is probably a condo/townhouse, that would be the cheapest way possible to move to a good area of BC and not pay crazy money

Hmm, yeah. I'm actually looking more to living on the outscurts somewhere. A place where I won't be bothered in my cultivation efforts, but where I can also get to groceries within a half-hour.

I definately want to grow where I live too. [IMG]

Is it cheap to live and go to college there?

I think I need a scholorship if I go .. because here I have the HOPE scholorship (for making all A's) I have a 95 GPA so they must have some kind of scholorship, right?

You must have a different system where you live. You can only get a 5.0 G.P.A where I live. It's the highest possible. I always had a 3.5 .

Sorry, I meant my average is 95. Of all the courses throughout high school, whatever that's called.

Anyways the GPA goes to 4.0 here too.. I have a 3.9.

I think I can get some kind of scholorship, I've been bustin my ass off for these grades.
