    LOL

The Telegraph is a right wing rag - owned by the tax dodging billionaires The Barclay Brothers, who really dislike the EU’s anti-tax avoidance drive which some claim is the real reason for their very anti-EU stance and that of the Telegraph

The Real Reason for Brexiteers' Insistence on a No Deal

Oh yes the Barclay Brothers owners of the Spectator –Boris Johnson was editor of the Spectator and oh surprise surprise Boris has also been a columnist at the Telegraph for over thirty years (after been sacked for lying at the Times) – basically the Barclays took him in and have been paying his wages ever since.

I wonder if he owes them any favours?

Like the Tories, the Telegraph has turned radical | Jane Martinson

As one journalist who left the paper commented about the Barclays Telegraph Brexit coverage - “They weren’t interested in truth. They were interested in winning,”

    It needs to be asked

If leavers have no rational reasons for thinking the UK will be better off leaving – why do they want to leave?

    I have to ask though

    If you voted to leave

What, um, have you been going on about in these Brexit threads?

Why do they want to leave

I’ve asked this before and one person replied that it’s because they just accept without question the kind of anti-EU propaganda pumped out by people like the Barclay brothers at the Telegraph.

But these people are here and every day they can see that their anti-EU arguments don’t stand up to even the smallest scrutiny – and they know this, they know their ideas are bad because they know they can’t defend them, they know they have nothing to counter the criticism with. They know they only have silly jibs and pathetic attempts at insults, liking each other’s farts like toddlers in a nursery.

Yet they still believe – and I’d like to know why?

Are they so far in to the cult they can’t see a way out, even while knowing in their hearts and heads that the things they believe in are frankly mad?

Is it because they only have hate left or is it fear, fear and loathing for the changes around them, in a world they don’t understand and wish to destroy?

Do they even know themselves have they even given it any thought?

Have they ever actually stopped and asked themselves why?

Are leavers using these deaths as reason why we should have Brexit, honestly that is where you want to go with this? OK what is the argument?

Are leavers saying that this would never happen if we had Brexit?

A senior British ports source told the Guardian that all cargo compartments coming into the UK underwent anti-terrorist screening, but this did not necessarily include measures to detect whether humans were inside a cargo – technology that is widely available at points of departure on the European mainland.

Essex lorry victims were trapped before reaching Belgian coast, officials say

Except Belgium by the looks of things

Full customs checks will be good for combating terrorism and human trafficking

Yet another reason Brexit - Good

I believe it is thought that the Chinese migrants were dead before arriving/leaving the port in Belgium in which case the technology to detect whether humans were inside might not have worked (making those based on carbon dioxide detectors, motion sensors and body heat redundant).

So leavers want ALL lorries stopped, opened and checked at the British coast - on average 10,000 lorries a day go through just Dover so that would entail huge delays that many leavers say wouldn’t happen because of Brexit?

So leavers want even more lengthy delays on the border while having free trade smooth frictionless borders that don’t cause any disruption to the flow of traffic that seems to be a contradiction?

    ‘Non-whites’ and the EU

Someone brought up the propaganda about how 'immigrants' were causing problems for the NHS, Social Security and Housing in the UK.

And a number of leavers have brought up just these issues as been the reason behind them wanting to leave the EU.

And in conversation it often becomes clear that what they are thinking about are non-white people (just as in the reply above) with another thing been mentioned has been Islam.

But as pointed out the vast majority of migrants from the EU are white and of a Christian background [Poles and Irish top the list]. While the vast majority of those people in the UK with black and brown skin and with a Muslim background come from areas once ruled by Britain that are outside the EU (Pakistan and India top that list) and the EU has no say over that immigration.

As to asylum seekers again not really anything to do with the EU – an immigrants right to seek asylum is set out in the Universal Declaration on Human Rights which is one of the UK’s most important obligations in international law.

So why do some leavers sneer at so called Londonistan and mumble about there been too many brown faces in the doctor’s waiting room?

Why do some leavers bring up ‘non-whites’ in the context of wanting Brexit?

    Its a "flextension" now

The EU27 has agreed that it will accept the UK's request for a #Brexit flextension until 31 January 2020. The decision is expected to be formalised through a written procedure

    Well, that was anticlimactic

I never worked out why some many people thought that the neoliberals pushing Brexit who are known for supporting, low tax, privatisation and the limiting of workers’ rights were somehow great champions of public services (big red bus promises) and protectors of the EU directives on workers’ rights, anti-tax avoidance laws and environmental protections (promises to the labour supporters of Brexit).

People should take a look at a book written by five Conservative MP Britain Unchained (four of which are now in Boris Johnson’s cabinet).

In it they argue that British workers are lazy idlers that need to be forced to worker harder through cuts to labour rights and the welfare system.

Well, looks like no ones going to veto the "flextension". So now the whole world knows the EU is full of shit. They need Britain

Other than that, this thread will be a big yawn until mid January
