I was wondering if brewing some tea for my hair would be a good idea. I have some camomile tea, and I was wondering...if I were to brew it, would it be a good idea to rinse my head with it? I don't really even know how I'd go about doing that...lol. Should I just...make a cup of tea, wait for it to cool, and pour it over my head? lol. I was thinking that maybe doing this, and then drying it and burning some insense would give my hair a nice earthy smell. So is this what people mean by rinsing their dreads with tea? Can I just use regular ol' camomile that's around my house...or peppermint...or something like that? I guess it really couldn't hurt, either way...haha.
I've heard theres certain kinds of tea that are sposed to be good for that. I'm not sure what kinds tho...
There is a great lady in Canada that makes soap and teas for dreads. She has 4 different kinds of teas- one for itching, one for dandruff, one with catnip to help your hair grow, and one for pest-repelling. This lady is the supplier for Knotty Boy's knot-teas, might as well buy direct from the source! She recomends you put the tea in a spray bottle and squirt it on. You can add sea salt to help 'em tighten up if needed. Her website is here, and be sure to check out her dreadlock journey page. http://www.enchantedsoapworks.com/ Or if you prefer ebay: http://stores.ebay.ca/Enchanted-Soapworks
I use teas all the time. They are great! What I usually do though is steep rosemary pines in boiling hot water. I let that steep then strain out the needles. I then put it in the fridge to cool off. When its nice and cold (or if u'd prefer lukewarm) I just pour it over my head...close to the roots and massage my scalp. I let it sit for 15 mins then rinse it a couple times. I would use rosemary for itchies, calomine would probably soothe sore inflamed scalp, and peppermint helps with itches and wakes your scalp up, you could use lavendar too.
