Thinking about getting a tatoo with a friend of mine next year when we see each other. But I will be still breastfeeding. There isn't any rule that says not to get a tatoo while your breastfeeding is there?
I dunno, I'd do some research on that. If the ink does get into your system, it's probably not alot, but I don't think I'd be comfortable with it.
i just got my third tattoo session on a large arm piece and i am breastfeeeding my 2 month old i asked the artist with whom is a mom herself and she said it was ok as long as its done in a shop professionally you should be alright but not if you're pregnant or have any serious conditions if you still arent sure ask your health practioner
If you get a dirty needle, you wouldn't want to pass anything to your baby. I would wait, you won't be breastfeeding forever. Your baby is more important than a tattoo....
Well, I have done a little research on it and have read that it is safe. Im nursing at just had a tattoo done on my arm and it is fairly large...(you can see it in my gallery) Now, I know that I have read that it is NOT safe to do when pregnant. Im going in for my next tattoo in November. What are you going to get? Good luck!
There is a small, but statistical chance of blood borne illnesses being transmitted. In most cases, these are more common in people who have been in Institutional Enviroments (group homes, work farms, prisons, hosptials for long time) but the chance is always there, and with things like HIV and Hepititis, breastfeeding while you have the first outbreak or are first incubating the disease is more likely to pass it to the baby. That being said, most mamas who tat while BF don't have any problems. I was going to get a tat right before I got pregnant with Sage, and decided to wait.
