the other day me and a friend were sitting havnig a coffee and this lady came in with her baby looked about 2 months old and she sat down ordered her drinks and fed her baby herself, this older bloke went up to the manager and asked him to tell her to put it away. the manager who was also female said no she doesnt have to and this bloke went nutty he went to the lady and said she was gross and things i went up there and started agrueing with him saying whats wrong with it, maybe you arent comfortable with it dont look matey. then i said what do u expect her to do feed her baby in the toliet or something and he said yes. then stormed off. what a prick
i'd have punched the guy well, if i was the mom at least, lololol! As you know, he's the one with the problem, so it was nice you said something; at least the mom knew she wasn't outnumbered. i'm glad he left
He was most likely bottle fed in an orphanage and was displaying his long repressed tit-envy for the baby's more wholesome privilege.
A mother has the right to breastfeed her child in public! Why do some people raise such a fuss about it, seriously, thta IS what breasts were made for! I believe that that mans opinion on breastfeeding in public was probably derived from the mainstream media... in the US we censor things way too much! Oh my gosh! She's showing a very minimal amount of her breast in public in order to feed her baby! Get over it, and let her feed her child! I'm just glad you and the manager of the coffee shop told that guy off and defended the mother! ^^
I think people get carried away with this whole breast feeding in public debate. By saying there is nothing wrong with a woman showing her breast in public to breast feed her baby is misleading. A mother knows how to go about it without putting on a show for everyone. She doesnt show her breast when she is breast feeding her baby in public. If she is flopping her breast out in front of everyone to see then I could see why people would have a problem with it.
I saw a lady breastfeeding her baby in a resturaunt (sp?) once. Theres nothing wrong with it. For some reason, people think everything is gross.
lol @ tit-envy! Maybe we should make him one of those attachable breasts like Robert De Niro did in 'Meet the Fockers'.. haha..
on a couple occaisions i've seen women who have the whole thing in full view of the public, and i've watched people get extremely uncomfortable. one was my friend sarah in a denny's while we were having breakfast. i have to confess, i was pretty surprised myself. i've breastfed my baby many times in public, but if i see someone getting very uncomfortable, i try to find a more discreet place. if there's none available, i will NOT feed my baby in a public toilet, they'll just have to learn to deal with it. it's not like they can see anything.
EXACTLY! It's not like a mother is taking her breast out for a show! Even when the baby is eating you can't see much. It seems like most people see breasts are purely sexual and forget they are only there to feed babies.
It's weird what people find offencive. There are cultures where woman walk around topless and no one cares. But here breastfeeding a baby in public is offencive? That's just odd to me.
That's horrible! Would I breast feed in public?-no but I certainly admire those who are comftrable enough to.
I guess the attitude towards breastfeeding is public in the US is much the same as the UK though. I always tried to be discreet about it, but it still had to be done sometimes! Portugal, where I live now, is very family oriented and most people don't bat an eyelid at breastfeeding, they let the mothers get on with it.
I think breast feeding in public should be allowed and acceptable, regardless of how it's done. Just goes to show how sexist, repressive and neurotic our society is.
