So I was out in public today. I'm pretty sure I saw either a huge fight and possibly a breakup.

I was a little unnerved, and a little peeved at the girl because she decided to throw a fit and started throwing things at her boyfriend, one item generally few in my direction and it could've hit me, but didn't luckily.

But here's what I want to ask everybody.

Should breakups happen in a public place? Or should it be done privately?

Definitely private, with a few exceptions. I broke up with someone in public once because we had only been dating a couple of months and I was breaking up with him because I was starting to figure out he was a little psycho. I didn't feel comfortable breaking up with him in a private place.

    Well here's the next question...

In my scenario, since items were thrown which could've hit me.

Do I have grounds to sue for emotional distress?

Definitely private and in person, but seeing as said female was quite violent, I'd say her boyfriend I MEAN ex boyfriend made a smart decision to do so in public.

I say you should sue. That doesn't make for a pleasant time.

Well hopefully they broke up. I'll give the girl the benefit of the doubt that she had a good reason to get angry. But to not consider that she could've hurt someone else unintentionally in her emotional outburst was wrong and inconsiderate. She can blow up at him in private, not public.

Even if I have grounds to sue, I might not since the wiser side of me thinks it best to steer clear of them entirely.

I guess that makes sense, hahah, no need to let all hell loose on pedestrians.

Yeah, I'm sorry you had to witness that. Break ups aren't fun.

Well I don't know if it was a breakup. But whatever happened was intense.

Let me ask the open forum, have you ever seen a nasty public breakup that kinda upset you just because of your proximity of it?

Yes, but not to the point that I thought I had grounds to file a lawsuit. You have got to be kidding.

Poverty is the best defense in a frivolous lawsuit.

it should always be done in public. that's some entertaining shit. unfortunately, it's usually just a tease rather than an actual breakup. you always see them publicly groping each other shortly afterward.

no lawsuit here. if you were smart, you would have jumped in front of said object and gotten some actual damages to show off in court.
