i went into this health food store one day and started talking to this lady who was a vegitarian too, and she told me that people's ability to go vegitarian depends on their blood type, i think it was a positive or o i cant remember. but she said it has something to do with one blood type producing more acid than the other, so they crave meat more, or something like that.
has anyone else heard of this?

Heard of it, and yeah it's a load of crap. Blood group has about as much relevance to diet as eye colour.

My old elementary school guidance counsellor explained this to me when we were dicussing vegetarianism (I pretended to have problems to get out of class). She believed in this diet as well, and yes, it's bullshit. I wonder what ever happened to her...

It may well be genetic. I'm L-O-veg, and do most of the cooking in the household, but I can't cook meat. It's not a nausea thing, it's a lack of skill thing. I have no experience, no way to gauge how well it's doing, and I keep screwing it up.

But my husband can't go for more than a week without eating the dead animal. He's tried everything. He doesn't really care one way or another for vegetarianism, but meat's expensive and he hates to cook. So if I don't pester him to eat meat whenever he can, he'll just let it go. Tofu, beans, eggs, supplements, nothing is quite what his individual body needs, and after a few days he just starts to wilt. It's sad to watch, and a nightmare to share a house with: he gets really grouchy, and aggressive. We joke that it's his "hunter instinct" wanting to kill something edible.

So we're slowly turning to adding canned chicken to his portion of whatever dish I'm serving, and beef when we eat out. He doesn't need much, a serving every day is best, but at least one a week is mandatory. I don't mind. Vegetarianism was my choice, not his. I want my diet to affect others as little as possible.

But the "Blood Type" diet... no, I don't think so. Individual chemistries do need different things (Me, I need peas a lot), but it has little to do with blood type.
