This thread is for the books you absolutely hate...something you read and thought was a disappointment or overrated, or something that was just plain awful! Post about all your crappy reading experiences here!

The Odyessy, by Homer. I'm sorry, but Odysseus really annoyed the crap out of me for some reason.

Silus Marner, Julius Ceasar, Scarlet Letter. I had to read those for school, but I just skipped over most of them and watched the movie, and read about them on the internet.

GAbriel Garcia Marquez comes to mind, I had to read this horridly thick book of his and it was soooooo boring, so, I kind of made it all up in my review. :)

Wuthering Heights, the classic gothic romance. I hated it so bad when I had to read it in school that I ... um... burned it.

The book I hate the most is "Pride and Prejudice" by Jane Austen. Generally I like books considered to be classics, so I decided to give it a try. In the beginning, I wanted to throw up. In the middle, I wanted to gouge my eyes out. At the end, I was ready to curl up and die. This book is absolutely *horrible!* I hated it. I will slap anyone who says they like it...j/k! ;-)

The Taking by Dean R. Koontz. Great story but in the end, it wasn't aliens, it was Satan who took all the missing people. I hate sci fi that turns all Jesusy in the end.

And if I spoiled it for you, too bad.

I'm ready to take a hit for this, but I hated A Tale of Two Cities. My junior year in highschool we had to read Jane Eyre, and I hated that one too.

I love to read....just not everything.

"The Power and the Glory" by Graham Green.

All about a drunken whiskey priest and his failings. Made me feel guilty for neither caring for him nor his religion. So i broke into the local Catholic Church, striped naked, sacrificed some goats and rolled around in their blood... felt much better afterwards.
