Sounds like a good list of books for me to sink my mental teeth into, thanks. The Lazy Man's Guide to Enlightenment sounds especially appealing to me, haha.

Also check out "Illusions" by Richard Bach, and the Tao Te Ching. Wisdom aplenty in both of those.

every book i read, fiction or nonfiction, seems to enlighten me in some way, shape, or form; and that is the beauty of literature.

Absolutely-positively-with-out-a-doubt The Electric Kool Aid Acid Test. I doubt I'd be who I am today without that book. It didn't change the way I thought but it certainly got the ball rolling.

    The Giver by Lois Lowry

I read it in grade 10 english, and fell in love with it. Kinda a highschool level book, but still really cool.

The Knight in Rusty Armor.... I think Robert Fisher wrote it. It's been one of my favorites since like third grade. It's almost written like it's for younger people, but it's really great for anyone. I have like four copies. It rocks. And it isn't too long.... you could read it in just a few hours, if you sat down and got to it. :D

I also highely recomend The Tao of Pooh

Another one which is not as "life changing" is The Curious Adventue. The main character has autism, and so does my brother. It gave me a huge insight into how his mind thinks.

almost every book i read has a little part in shaping the way i think but some of my favorites are:
    "god's debris" scott adams
"become what you are" alan watts
    "the celestine prophecy" james redfield
"the power of now" eckhart tolle
"the four agreements" don miguel ruiz-or any other book by him for that matter
    "ishmael"??????
"tales from the time loop" david icke- this one changed my way of seeing the world yes, but for the better, i dont think so. but its a good read if youre into conspiracy theories and such
    "the lucifer principle" howard bloom
....theres so many more but those are probably the most important.....

The Education of Little Tree! Yes! Smoke Signals...forget who it's by...ugh. It was a play, but we read the book in English...the movie had some cool shots of scenery in Idaho! Loved it. :) Not as good as The Education of Little Tree, though. :p

That book was awesome. Alan Watts is a genius.

My life was rocked when I read "The Power of Now" by Eckhart Tolle.

Hmmm. I'll be showing my age, but, here goes.

Where The Red Firn Grows, The RED Badge of courage, and the Outsiders by S.E. Hinton. (S.E. is a female by the way!) Where the Red Firn grows was about Friendship & Love. The Red badge Of Courage was about standing up for what you believe in. The Outsiders was a Cultural thing. Rich vs Poor. Deceipt vs Honesty.
    Great works.

I LOVED The Outsiders, and of course Ishmael, because Quinn was able to take all the thoughts in my 16 year old mind and shape into a worldview. Quinn basically opened the window to my passions.
Something y'all need to know about The Education of Little Tree--it's not true. An anglo wrote it as an autobiography and made everything up. It's a good story, but know that it's fiction.
Also Smoke Signals is the film, the book is actually The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven by Sherman Alexie--who is FABULOUS!

I'm taking notes of all of your suggestions. Something tells me we have similar tastes.

    My books-

The Master and Margharita- Mikhail Bulgakov
    The Oath- Elie Wiesel
Briefing for a desent into hell- Doris Lessing
    The Idiot-Dostoyevsky
    The Magus- John Fowles
    Beneath the Wheel- Hermann Hesse
    The Book-Alan Watts
Coming of Age in Samoa- Margaret Mead
"Cannibals and Kings" and "Cows Pigs Wars and Witches"- By Marvin Harris

Gotta get me to a library and read more by these authors:)
